Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) Executive Officer Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), Sri Vijaya Puram, has released a notice for 1 Executive Officer post on a short term contract basis. The institute will hold a hybrid interview — conducted virtually through video conferencing as well as in person at Port Blair — to select the candidate. Only retired Central or State Government officers with an administrative background can apply for this post; serving government officers from Central/State Government funded autonomous bodies can also apply and will be considered on deputation if they wish and are selected. The contract is initially for a tenure of two years, making it a good short-term opportunity for retired officers who want to stay professionally active.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification (Option 1): You must be a retired Assistant Secretary or Assistant Director (Admn) from a Central or State Government/UT department, with good administrative experience.
- Qualification (Option 2): You must be a retired Central/State Government/UT officer who held Pay Level 6 (Rs. 35,400-1,12,400) or an equivalent grade, with at least 5 years of regular service in that grade before retirement, along with good administrative experience.
- Deputation option: Serving officers from Central/State Government funded autonomous bodies can also apply for this post; they will be treated as on deputation if selected.
- You only need to meet one of the two qualification options above — either is acceptable.
Age Limit
- Retired candidates should not be more than 62 years old as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
- Your eligibility for qualification, age and experience will be checked as on the last date of application (28 July 2026) — not on the date of interview.
Salary
- This Short Term Contract post is at Pay Level 9 (Rs. 53,100 to Rs. 1,67,800) of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
- Your actual pay will be a fixed monthly amount — calculated by deducting your basic pension from the last pay you drew before retirement, as per the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure OM No. 3-25/2020-E.IIIA dated 9 December 2020.
- This pay structure is standard for all post-retirement contractual appointments in Central Government institutions, so your take-home amount will depend on your individual pension and last drawn pay.
Selection Process
The selection will be done through a single stage:
- Hybrid Interview: Held at Port Blair through Video Conferencing (and in-person where applicable). You will be informed of the date and time through SMS/Email well in advance. Selection is based purely on your performance in the interview — there is no written test or skill test for this post.
Results will be shared through email/SMS and also published on the ANIIMS official website. The Director, ANIIMS reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the interview at any stage.

Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day administrative operations of the institute
- Coordinate between different departments and the institute administration
- Monitor budgets, procurement, and office expenditure
- Prepare and maintain official records, files, and correspondence
- Liaise with Central and State Government departments on administrative matters
- Supervise support staff and ensure smooth office functioning
- Ensure compliance with government rules, procedures, and financial regulations
