Andhra University (AU), Visakhapatnam — a NAAC A++ accredited institution — has released Employment Notification No.S.II(1)/6849/1-790/2026(3) dated 15 May 2026 for direct recruitment of 203 Assistant Professors. The vacancies are spread across more than 60 departments including Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, Commerce, Law, Management, Pharmacy and Visual Arts. Who Can Apply?

For Arts, Science, Commerce and Humanities Subjects

• Master's degree with at least 55% marks in the relevant subject from a recognised Indian or foreign university
• You must have cleared UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, AP-SLET or AP-SET
• OR a Ph.D. degree in the relevant subject as per UGC 2009/2016 regulations (NET exemption applies under conditions)

For Engineering Subjects (Civil, Electrical, ECE, Mechanical, IT, CSE, Chemical etc.)

• B.E. / B.Tech / B.S. AND M.E. / M.Tech / M.S. / Integrated M.Tech in the relevant engineering discipline
• You need First Class or equivalent in any one of the degrees
• Candidates who have done Ph.D. after Bachelor's from IIT/IISc/NIT with GATE/GPAT/CEED are also eligible

For Special Disciplines (Architecture, Fine Arts, Management)

• Architecture: B.Arch with 60% + 3 years experience, or B.Arch + M.Arch with 60% + 1 year experience
• Management: Bachelor's + Master's (MBA/PGDM/CA/ICWA) First Class + 2 years experience, or Master's in Management with NET
• Fine Arts: Master's in Fine Arts/Visual Arts with NET/SLET/SET, or recognised professional artist with Bachelor's

5% relaxation in marks at Master's level for SC/ST/BC/PwBD candidates. 5% relaxation also for Ph.D. holders who completed Master's before 19 September 1991.

Age Limit

• Age limits will follow Andhra Pradesh State Government rules for Assistant Professor posts in State Educational Institutions
• You must check the detailed notification on the AU website for subject-wise age criteria and relaxation rules
• Age relaxation is available for SC/ST/BC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-servicemen as per AP Government norms

Salary

• Assistant Professor: Academic Pay Level 10 as per GO Ms No. 14 dated 13.02.2019 HE(UE)D, Government of Andhra Pradesh
• Pay range: Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per State Government rules

Selection Process

Selection will be done based on:

1. Screening of Online Applications: Eligible applications shortlisted based on essential qualifications
2. Academic and Research Merit: Based on UGC API scores, academic record, NET/SLET/SET, M.Phil/Ph.D., research papers and teaching experience
3. Interview: Subject expert panel interview at Andhra University
4. Document Verification
