Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati (IISER Tirupati) is recruiting project staff for research in plant biology and agricultural biotechnology. The projects are led by Dr. Eswarayya Ramireddy and supported by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT). Posts and Disciplines

• Junior Research Fellow / Project Associate-I: The ANRF projects explore crop iron-use efficiency and plant defence against bacterial wilt. The iron-use study examines the role of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase in links between nutrient responses and stress. The other project investigates cytokinin interactions between plants and Ralstonia solanacearum.
• Laboratory Technician: The DBT-supported SEED-DSR project focuses on seedlings and roots in direct-seeded rice. Its research concerns nutrient and water efficiency, alongside resilience to drought and heat.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Research fellow tenure: The initial offer is for one year. Renewal depends on satisfactory performance, and the engagement ends with the project.
• Technician tenure: The initial offer is for one year, with a possible extension for one more year based on satisfactory performance. This role also ends with its project.
• Project closure: The appointment ends automatically when the research project terminates, without notice or compensation. You cannot claim permanent appointment or absorption at IISER Tirupati through this engagement.
• Funding conditions: Your appointment follows the terms of the funding agency that apply to the particular project. The institute may increase or decrease the number of posts to meet its requirements.
• Joining: If selected, you must be ready to join immediately after receiving the offer. Consider this requirement when planning a move or arranging release from an existing role.
• Interview travel: The institute will not pay travel or daily allowances for attending the interview. You will need to make your own arrangements.
• Further study: Selected project staff may apply to the institute’s regular PhD programme if they meet its admission requirements. The project appointment itself does not provide automatic admission.
• Application accuracy: You are responsible for the information, photographs and records you provide. A later finding that you do not meet the advertised requirements can cancel your application or end your appointment.
• Recruitment communication: The institute will not handle interim enquiries about the recruitment. Canvassing or using outside influence can disqualify you.
