ALHW Marine Surveyor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Andaman Lakshadweep Harbour Works (ALHW), a subordinate organization under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, has invited applications to fill 1 post of Marine Surveyor on deputation basis (including short-term contract). The selected officer will be posted at the Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep group of Islands, making this a unique opportunity to work in one of India's most strategically important maritime regions. Eligible serving officers from Central Government departments, autonomous bodies, or statutory organizations should apply through proper channel.

Who Can Apply?

Service Eligibility (Deputation):

  • Holding an analogous post: You must be holding an analogous post on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department under the Central Government; OR
  • 5 years in Level 6: You must have at least 5 years of regular service in Level 6 or above in the 7th CPC pay matrix.

Educational Qualification:

  • You must hold a Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering or Nautical Science from a recognized institution.
  • You need a valid Certificate of Competency (Master Foreign Going or equivalent).
  • You should have hands-on experience in ship surveying.

Salary

  • The post carries pay at Level 7 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
  • Basic pay ranges from Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month.
  • Pre-revised pay scale: PB-2 Rs. 9,300-34,800 + Grade Pay Rs. 4,600.
  • You will also receive DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules applicable at the place of posting.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written examination or interview for this recruitment. Selection will be done in the following manner:

  1. Screening of Applications: The competent authority will review all applications received through proper channel to check eligibility and completeness of documents.
  2. Document Verification: Your ACRs/APARs, vigilance clearance, integrity certificate, and other submitted documents will be verified.
  3. Selection by Competent Authority: The final selection will be made based on your service record, qualifications, and experience as verified from the documents.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys of ships and marine vessels to check seaworthiness and structural integrity
  • Inspect harbour infrastructure including jetties, wharves, and breakwaters for safety compliance
  • Prepare detailed survey reports and technical assessments on vessel and port conditions
  • Monitor ongoing harbour construction and maintenance works for quality assurance
  • Assist in planning and execution of marine engineering projects across Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands
  • Follow maritime safety regulations and ensure compliance with national and international standards
  • Coordinate with port authorities, shipping companies, and other government agencies on marine matters

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Degree/Diploma in Marine Engineering or Nautical Science with valid Certificate of Competency (Master Foreign Going or equivalent) and ship surveying experience

Preferred Qualification

Experience in harbour/port related survey work

Required Skills

Marine surveying, ship inspection, technical report writing, knowledge of maritime safety regulations
