All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna (AIIMS Patna), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has released a Phase-I notification for Senior Resident (Non-Academic) recruitment across clinical and non-clinical departments. The appointment is for a three-year residency tenure at AIIMS Patna. Selection uses an 80-mark MCQ written test and a 20-mark interview, so applicants should prepare for both the exam and document check.

Vacancies are provisional and may change at the time of selection. General Medicine includes rotational posting in medical super-speciality areas.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Post Graduate Degree such as MD, MS, DNB, DM, M.Ch or an equivalent qualification in the relevant department recognised by MCI, NMC or NBE.
• Clinical Haematology: Candidates with MD in General Medicine or MD in Paediatrics can also apply.
• Final exam candidates: PG students appearing in the July 2026 final examination can apply, but they must submit the passing certificate before result declaration.
• Senior residency condition: You cannot apply if you have already completed 3 years of Senior Residency, whether academic or non-academic.
• Cut-off date: Qualification and experience will be counted as on 14 July 2026.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 45 years as on 14 July 2026.
• SC / ST: upper age relaxation of 5 years.
• OBC: upper age relaxation of 3 years.
• PwBD: upper age relaxation of 10 years.

Salary

• Pay: Rs. 67,700 per month under Level 11 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
• Selected doctors will also get Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA).
• DA, HRA and other usual allowances will be paid as per Central Government rules.

Application Fee

• General / OBC: Rs. 1,500 plus transaction charges.
• SC / ST / EWS: Rs. 1,200 plus transaction charges.
• Ex-Servicemen / Women / PwBD: No fee.
• Payment mode: Online payment only. The fee is non-refundable.

Selection Process

The AIIMS Patna Senior Resident selection will be completed in four main stages:

1. Written Exam: MCQ-based test with 80 questions for 80 marks. There is no negative marking.
2. Interview Shortlisting: Candidates up to 3 times the advertised seats in each category and speciality may be called for interview.
3. Personal Interview: Interview carries 20 marks. Final merit is based on written test plus interview, for a total of 100 marks.
4. Document Verification and Medical Fitness: Original certificates will be checked, and joining is subject to medical fitness by AIIMS Patna.

Qualifying marks are 50% for UR, 45% for OBC-NCL/EWS and 40% for SC/ST in both written test and final selection.

• Handle patient care in the assigned AIIMS Patna department
• Assist faculty and consultants during OPD, ward rounds, procedures and emergency duties
• Prepare case notes, discharge summaries and clinical records correctly
• Work in rotating duties, including emergency and night shifts when assigned
• Follow hospital protocols for infection control, patient safety and medical documentation
• Support teaching, seminars, case discussions and departmental academic activities
• Coordinate with nursing, laboratory, imaging and speciality teams for patient management
