AIIMS New Delhi has released Notice No. 103/2026 for the Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET-11), inviting applications for 2218 Nursing Officer posts across AIIMS New Delhi and 18 other participating AIIMS institutes, plus ESIC, JIPMER, and several other central hospitals. ESIC New Delhi has the largest share with 523 posts, followed by AIIMS Bhubaneswar (223) and AIIMS New Delhi itself (201). NORCET is a common test — you sit for one exam and then choose your preferred institute based on your merit rank, so nurses from anywhere in India can apply for a posting close to home or in a new city.

Who Can Apply?
Option I
- Qualification: B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing or B.Sc Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council recognized institute or university, OR B.Sc (Post-Certificate)/Post-Basic B.Sc Nursing from a recognized institute/university
- Registration: You must be registered as a Nurse and Midwife with the State/Indian Nursing Council
Option II
- Qualification: Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) from a recognized institute/board/council
- Registration: Registered as Nurse and Midwife with State/Indian Nursing Council
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital with at least 50 beds, gained after completing your course, declaration of result, and registration
Age Limit
- You should be between 18 and 30 years old as on 13 August 2026 (the closing date of online registration).
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC candidates get 3 years, and PwBD candidates get 10 years (13 years for PwBD+OBC, 15 years for PwBD+SC/ST), subject to a maximum age of 56 years.
- Ex-Servicemen: Length of military service plus 3 years (General), plus 6 years (OBC), or plus 8 years (SC/ST).
- Central Government Employees: 5 to 10 years relaxation for those with at least 3 years of regular service, for Group B posts.
Salary
- Selected candidates will get a salary in Pay Level 7 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (pre-revised Pay Band-2 of Rs. 9,300-34,800 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4,600), starting from around Rs. 44,900 per month.
- You will also get DA, HRA, TA, and other allowances admissible to Central Government servants of similar status at your posting city.

- SC/ST candidates who appear in the exam get their fee refunded after result declaration and certificate verification. Fees once paid are otherwise non-refundable.
Selection Process
The selection happens in two stages:
- NORCET Preliminary (Stage I): A qualifying computer-based test of 100 MCQs for 100 marks in 90 minutes, with 20 questions on General Knowledge & Aptitude and 80 on Nursing subjects. Negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer applies. This stage does not count towards your final merit.
- NORCET Mains (Stage II): Only candidates shortlisted from Stage I appear here — a computer-based test of 160 MCQs for 160 marks in 180 minutes, covering the entire nursing syllabus with case-scenario questions. Negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer applies. Your final merit is based only on Stage II marks.
- Choice Filling & Allocation: Qualified candidates fill institute preferences, and seats are allotted strictly by merit rank and availability.
- Document Verification: Provisionally allocated candidates must produce original certificates, category certificates, and a No Objection Certificate (if already in government service) before joining.

- Fill in the NORCET-11 online application form carefully — no correction is allowed after the closing date.

- Submit the form and save a copy for your records.

Responsibilities
- Provide bedside nursing care and monitor patient vitals in the assigned ward
- Administer medicines and injections as prescribed by the treating doctor
- Maintain accurate patient records, charts, and medication logs
- Assist doctors during rounds, procedures, and emergencies
- Sterilize equipment and maintain hygiene standards in the ward or ICU
- Educate patients and their families about post-treatment care and medication schedules
- Work in rotating shifts, including night duty and emergency call
- Coordinate with other nursing and support staff for smooth ward operations

Exam Pattern
NORCET-11 has two stages, both computer-based tests (CBT).
Stage I: NORCET Preliminary (Qualifying)
- 100 questions for 100 marks, with 90 minutes to complete.
- General Knowledge & Aptitude: 20 questions
- Nursing subjects (as taught at the essential qualification level): 80 questions
Stage II: NORCET Mains (Merit-Deciding)
- 160 questions for 160 marks, with 180 minutes to complete.
- Covers the entire nursing syllabus with case-scenario-based questions testing your nursing skills.
Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer in both stages.
Qualifying Marks (Stage I): 50 percentile for UR/EWS, 45 percentile for OBC, 40 percentile for SC/ST, with additional relaxation for PwBD candidates.
