ACB Gujarat Legal Advisor Recruitment 2026: Overview
The Anti-Corruption Bureau, Gujarat (ACB Gujarat) wants seasoned criminal lawyers to join its field units as Legal Advisor (Kayda Salahkar). The bureau says the hiring is meant to make its anti-corruption drive more effective in court, and the government-sanctioned posts are filled on contract, for an initial term of 11 months. In simple words, you become the bureau's in-house lawyer who keeps ACB cases moving, from the trial court right up to the Supreme Court.
This is not an entry-level job. The bureau is looking at retired judges, retired or former public prosecutors and advocates who have already handled ACB cases. If you have argued bribery cases in a Sessions Court, you will get preference.
Posts and Disciplines
- Legal Advisor, ACB Surat Unit: based at the office of the Assistant Director, ACB Surat Unit, in Surat.
- Legal Advisor, ACB Border Unit: based at the office of the Assistant Director, ACB Border Unit, in Bhuj (Kachchh).
The application form has a column for your order of preference for the place of posting, so you can rank the two units on one form.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Contract term: The first term runs for 11 months from the day you join. Either side can end the contract with one month's notice.
- Fixed pay only: No increments, dearness allowance, bonus, LTC, leave encashment or advances are paid over the consolidated amount, and professional tax is deducted from it.
- Bond: You must sign a bond worth three times your monthly consolidated pay.
- Residence: You must live at the place of posting. Daily up-down travel is not allowed, and you cannot leave headquarters without permission.
- Leave: You get 11 casual leaves a year with prior approval; any extra absence is cut from your pay on a pro-rata basis.
- Working hours: Normal state government office hours, but court work can keep you late or bring you in on public holidays, with no extra pay.
- Conflict of interest: During the contract you cannot take up or advise on any ACB-related case against the government.
- Conduct rules: The Gujarat Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1971 apply, and a breach can end the contract without any proceedings.
- Clean record: No criminal case should be registered against you; retired officials must have no departmental proceedings against them.
- Reporting and renewal: Every three months you report the cases you attended, how many were decided and how many went against the government. How quickly cases under your unit are disposed of is weighed when the contract comes up for renewal.
- No regular post: The contract gives you no claim to absorption into a regular government post.
