SCTIMST Project Technical Support II Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, is hiring Project Technical Support II staff at its Biomedical Technology Wing in Poojappura. The posts sit under an ICMR-funded project, the National Centre for Preclinical Evaluation of Cardiovascular Devices (P.8260), which tests heart-related medical devices before they reach patients. SCTIMST is an Institution of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology, and its device wing is one of the few places in India where new biomedical products are built and checked to global standards.

This is a project-based, temporary engagement filled through a walk-in interview, so there is no online form to fill. If you hold a mechanical, electronics or biomedical engineering diploma with long hands-on experience, or an electronics or computer science degree, this is a practical way to get into medical device work at a national institute. Research and development experience gives you an edge.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The appointment runs initially up to 14 May 2027 and is likely to be extended up to 14 May 2029, depending on the project.
• Reserved posts: One post each is set aside for SC, OBC and unreserved candidates. If no eligible SC or OBC candidate turns up, the post goes to an unreserved candidate.
• Caste certificates: SC and OBC (non-creamy layer) certificates must be in the Central Government format and issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahsildar.
• Experience rule: Only experience gained after you earned the essential qualification counts.
• Working candidates: If you already have a job, carry a No Objection Certificate from your present employer to the interview.
• Screening test: If many candidates report, a qualifying written test may be held first. Its marks are not added to your final ranking — it only decides who goes on to the interview.
• No travel allowance: SCTIMST does not pay TA/DA for attending the interview.
