Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) Senior Assistant Traffic Manager Recruitment 2026 - 4 Posts

Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA), which functions under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India and is part of the Sagarmala port-led development programme, has issued a recruitment notice to fill 4 vacant posts of Senior Assistant Traffic Manager in its Traffic Department. These posts will be filled by the deputation/absorption method from among eligible officers already working in any of India's Major Port Authorities. The deputation period is 3 years, and only currently serving port officers with the right experience and a clean service record can apply — this is not a direct-entry vacancy for the general public or fresh graduates.

As per MbPA's Recruitment Rules, Senior Assistant Traffic Manager is a Class-I post with 11 sanctioned positions in total. The normal filling order is promotion first, then absorption/deputation, and direct recruitment only as a last resort. Since promotion alone has not filled all sanctioned posts, MbPA is now inviting eligible officers from other Major Port Authorities to fill the remaining 4 vacancies through deputation.

As a Senior Assistant Traffic Manager, you would plan and coordinate cargo and vessel traffic within the port, working closely with shipping lines, railways, and other port departments to keep operations running smoothly. This is a Class-I executive post, so it comes with real responsibility and a decent pay scale.

Who Can Apply?

• Eligibility: You must be a serving officer of a Major Port Authority holding an analogous post, or an Assistant Traffic Manager Grade-I (pay scale Rs. 9,100-15,100) with at least 5 years of regular service in that grade.
• Qualification: As per the Recruitment Rules for this post, you need a degree from a recognized university.
• Experience: You should have around 5 years of experience in shipping, cargo operations, or railway transportation in an executive cadre of an Industrial, Commercial, or Government Undertaking.
• Eligibility cut-off date: Your qualification, experience, and age will be assessed as on 1 August 2026.
• Category: You need to mention your category (SC/ST/OBC/General) in the application, with a caste certificate attached if applicable.
• This post is open only to officers already employed in a Major Port Authority — it is not a direct-entry vacancy for the general public.

Salary

• The Senior Assistant Traffic Manager post carries a pay scale of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,60,000 per month (pre-revised Rs. 20,600-46,500 / Rs. 10,750-16,750).
• This is a graded pay scale, so your actual monthly pay within this range depends on your length of service and annual increments, not a single fixed figure.
• You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as applicable to Mumbai Port Authority officers.

Selection Process

Your application will go through the following process:

1. Screening by your parent Port Authority: Your current employer will verify your documents, ACRs/APARs, and eligibility before forwarding your application to MbPA.
2. Review by MbPA: The Manager (HR) at Mumbai Port Authority will check your application for completeness and eligibility. Incomplete or late applications are rejected without further communication.
3. Selection by Services Selection Committee: A Services Selection Committee will select candidates based on your qualification, experience, and service record, including your ACR/APAR grading over the last 5 years. Once selected, you cannot withdraw your candidature.

1. Download the application form (Annexure II) from mumbaiport.gov.in.
2. Fill in your personal details, present post, pay scale, date of appointment, and experience.
3. Attach certified copies of your ACRs/APARs for the last 5 years (2020-21 to 2024-25), along with a year-wise availability statement.
4. Attach attested copies of your educational and experience certificates.
5. Get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and an Administrative Clearance form (Annexure III) signed by your Head of Department.
6. Attach the Vigilance Clearance form (Annexure IV) and 2 passport-size photographs.
7. Submit your complete application through proper channel so it reaches the Manager (HR), HR Division, Mumbai Port Authority, 2nd Floor, Port Bhavan, S.V. Marg, Ballard Estate, Mumbai – 400001 on or before 15 September 2026.
