Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) Principal Advisor (Civil) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA), which functions under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has released Advertisement No. HR-CON.06/2026 dated 12 August 2026 for one Principal Advisor (Civil) post on contract. This is a senior advisory role — you will guide the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson on civil engineering works and oversee MbPA's civil projects. Only retired senior government/PSU civil engineers are eligible — this is not an entry-level opening. The engagement is for one year, extendable further by one year at a time based on your performance, and you will not get regularisation or permanency in this role.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised University or Institution.
• Experience: You must be a retired officer not below the level of Head of Department (Chief Engineer Civil) in the pay-scale of Rs. 1,00,000-3,20,000, from a Major Port Authority, Government, Semi-Government body, PSU or Autonomous Body, with a minimum of 25 years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering, project management and implementation.
• Only experience gained after acquiring your essential qualification will be counted.
• You need to give the contact details of two professional references in your application.

Age Limit

• You can be up to 65 years old as on 1 September 2026.
• Age Relaxation: Relaxable in deserving cases at MbPA's discretion.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated remuneration of Rs. 1,80,000 per month plus Rs. 35,000 per month Transport Allowance — a total of about Rs. 2,15,000 per month.
• If you are a retired Port/Government/Semi-Government official, your remuneration will be your last pay drawn minus pension, or Rs. 1,80,000, whichever is lower, plus the Transport Allowance. Applicable statutory taxes will be deducted.
• Duty hours are from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with 20 days Casual Leave per year plus public holidays. MbPA quarters accommodation may be provided, subject to availability, at 10% of your remuneration as rent plus utility charges.
• Basic medical facility is available at the MbPA hospital/dispensary, but outside referrals and family/dependent coverage are not included.

Selection Process

MbPA will select the Principal Advisor through the following steps:

1. Screening of Applications: Your application and documents are checked against the eligibility criteria for qualification, experience and age.
2. Written Test/Interview: Shortlisted candidates may be called for a written test or interview. No TA/DA is paid for attending.
3. Document Verification: You must produce original certificates for verification at the time of interview.
4. Medical Examination: Your engagement is subject to being found medically fit as per MbPA's requirements.
5. Police Verification: Your antecedents will be verified by the police before final engagement.
