IIT Indore Visiting Consultant Horticulture Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is engaging a Visiting Consultant (Horticulture) for its campus at Simrol, Indore. This part-time assignment supports the institute's green campus plans and the upkeep of its gardens, plantations and landscaped spaces. You will work within a visiting arrangement shaped by the institute's needs.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Visit schedule: The notice indicates two to four visits per month, with visits requested according to campus needs. This is a visiting role, so the schedule depends on the work the institute needs you to support.
- Initial tenure: The appointment starts with one year. Renewal depends on your performance and the institute's continuing need for the assignment.
- Temporary status: The engagement gives you no right to claim regular employee status. Keep this condition in mind when considering the offer.
- End of engagement: The appointment ends automatically when the tenure in the offer finishes. Either side can end it earlier by giving one month's written notice.
- Confidentiality: You must protect official information and follow the institute's rules governing the assignment.
- Attendance expenses: The institute will not reimburse travel or other expenses for attending the practical test or interaction mentioned in its general instructions.
- Communication: Shortlisted and selected applicants receive individual messages at their registered email addresses. The institute does not accept interim correspondence about the process.

- Develop landscape and horticulture plans for the green campus.
- Advise on native, low-maintenance plants suited to the local climate.
- Guide garden, lawn, nursery and plantation upkeep.
- Set practices for soil health, plant nutrition, pruning and pest control.
- Prepare technical specifications and quality standards for horticulture contracts.
- Inspect work completed by outsourced landscaping contractors.
- Advise on composting, water-efficient irrigation and biodiversity.
- Train supervisory staff and ground teams through field demonstrations.
पात्रता मानदंड
न्यूनतम योग्यता
Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Forestry, Landscaping or a closely related discipline from a recognized university or institute.
वांछित योग्यता
Ph.D. in Horticulture or Agriculture Sciences, or specialized training/certification in Landscape Design, Urban Forestry or Protected Cultivation.
आवश्यक कौशल
Landscape planning, campus greening, soil and pest management, efficient irrigation, DPRs, specifications, cost estimates, tender documents, contractor quality monitoring and campus sustainability.

At least 10 years in horticulture, landscape or nursery management, or green infrastructure projects in government departments, autonomous bodies, PSUs or large educational/corporate campuses. Work with government departments, agricultural universities, research institutions or international organizations is preferred. Experience is counted up to the application closing date.
