DRDO DG Aero Paid Internship 2026 — 200 Vacancies

DRDO is hiring 200 Paid Interns under its DG (Aeronautical Systems) cluster across five labs — ADE, ADRDE, CABS, CEMILAC and GTRE. If you are a Final Year UG or PG student in Engineering or Science with minimum 6.5 CGPA, you can apply. The internship runs for 6 months with a total stipend of Rs. 30,000. The Director General (Aeronautical Systems), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has released advertisement no. DRDO/DG(Aero)/PI/001/2026 for the Paid Internship Scheme 2026-27. The Aero cluster works on cutting-edge defence projects including unmanned air vehicles, aero gas turbine engines, airborne surveillance systems, parachutes, decelerators and lighter-than-air systems. This is a chance to work with India's top defence scientists while you complete your degree. Final year Engineering and Science students from across India can apply.

• CABS (Centre for Airborne Systems), Bangalore: 60 posts
• GTRE (Gas Turbine Research Establishment), Bangalore: 31 posts
• ADRDE (Aerial Delivery Research & Development Establishment), Agra: 20 posts
• CEMILAC (Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification), Bangalore + 7 RCMA outstations: 20 posts

CEMILAC has 13 seats at Bangalore and 7 at outstation Regional Centres — Nasik-1 (Mechanical), Hyderabad-01 (Electronics), Lucknow-02 (Electrical), Chandigarh-01 (Aero), Kanpur-01 (Textiles), Air Armament Pune-01 (Mechanical).

Who Can Apply?

• Academic Status: You must be a Final Year Undergraduate or Postgraduate student in Engineering or Science.
• Minimum CGPA: 6.5 CGPA is mandatory.
• Marksheet Requirement: 6th Sem marksheet for UG and 2nd Sem marksheet for PG is mandatory. If results are pending, average marks of 4th and 5th Sem (UG) or 1st Sem (PG) will be considered.
• Internship Duration: You must commit to a full 6 months of internship.
• Nationality: Only Indian Nationals can apply. Students studying outside India are not eligible.
• Note: 6th Sem (UG) and 2nd Sem (PG) marksheet must be submitted at the time of joining, failing which the internship will not be offered.

Stipend

• Total stipend of Rs. 30,000 for the full 6-month internship.
• Paid in two installments: Rs. 15,000 after 3 months and Rs. 15,000 after the next 3 months.
• If you leave the internship before completing 6 months, you will not receive the certificate.

Application Fee

• No application fee mentioned in the notification.

Selection Process

Selection is by shortlisting based on academic merit:

1. Shortlisting by Respective Lab: Each lab will shortlist candidates based on available vacancies and information in the application.
2. Email Communication: Selected candidates and lab allotment will be communicated via the email ID provided in the application.
3. Police Verification: Before joining, you must submit a Police Clearance Certificate from local police of your domicile/residence.

The topic and area of internship will be decided by the lab based on guide availability and research facilities. Selection as intern does not guarantee a job in DRDO at a later date.

5. Attach: Application form, Permission letter from college/institute (with internship duration as 6 months), Resume, Marksheet up to semester 6 (UG) or semesters 1 and 2 (PG), and Aadhaar Card copy.

Important Dates

• Opening Date of Advertisement: 26 May 2026
• Closing Date of Advertisement: 5 June 2026
• Eligibility Reference Date: 5 June 2026 (you must satisfy all criteria as on this date)

• Work on assigned research projects under the guidance of allotted scientists
• Attend the lab for a minimum of 15 days each month during the 6-month period
• Submit a progress report after 3 months and a final project report after 6 months
• Follow the working hours, security rules and guidelines of the respective lab
• Maintain confidentiality and do not discuss any DRDO lab matters on social media
• Obtain HoD permission and ensure no college duties (except exams) clash with the internship
• Complete clearance formalities and submit them to HRD on completion of training
