Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Madras Complex Security Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

CSIR Madras Complex, Taramani, Chennai has released Advertisement No. 01/2026 for 1 Security Assistant post (Post Code: SA01) on direct recruitment. This is an isolated post at the institute, and the selected candidate is required to reside in the Security Assistant Residence-cum-Office located inside the CSIR campus. Rent-free accommodation is provided as part of the role, though HRA is not paid separately. Ex-servicemen and retired Paramilitary personnel with a security background are best suited for this position.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must be an Ex-servicemen or JCO (or equivalent rank) from the Army, or hold an equivalent rank in other Paramilitary Forces.
• Experience: You need 5 years of experience in security-related work.
• Desirable: Good verbal communication in Hindi and English, written communication skills, basic computer knowledge, and familiarity with modern firefighting and security monitoring systems.
• Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and Persons with Disability (PwD) are not eligible for this post.

Age Limit

• Your age should not exceed 28 years as on 16 September 2026, the last date for online applications.
• Age Relaxation: Widows, divorced women, and women judicially separated from their husbands (not remarried) can apply up to 35 years.
• Age Relaxation: Ex-servicemen get age relaxation as per Government of India orders.
• SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against this unreserved (UR) post are not eligible for age relaxation.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a gross monthly salary of Rs. 62,400 (Initial Basic Pay Rs. 35,400 under Level-6, Cell-1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix).
• You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), Transport Allowance (TA), and other Central Government benefits as per 7th CPC rules.
• Rent-free accommodation is provided inside the CSIR campus, so House Rent Allowance (HRA) is not paid.

Physical Standards

Minimum Height and Chest Requirements:

• General category: Height 167 cm (Male) / 157 cm (Female); Chest 80 cm exhaled / 85 cm expanded (Male)
• Hilly Area candidates: Height 165 cm (Male) / 155 cm (Female); Chest 80 cm exhaled / 85 cm expanded (Male)
• ST category: Height 162.5 cm (Male) / 154 cm (Female); Chest 77 cm exhaled / 82 cm expanded (Male)

Physical Test:

• Running: 1600 m in 6 minutes 30 seconds (Male) / 800 m in 4 minutes (Female)
• Long Jump: 3.65 m in 3 chances (Male) / 2.70 m in 3 chances (Female)
• Chin-ups: Minimum 6 (Male only)
• Push-ups: Minimum 12 (Male only)
• Sit-ups: Minimum 10 (both Male and Female)

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Skill/Physical and Personality Assessment Test: A qualifying-nature test covering physical standards and a 100-question objective test (General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Problem Solving, Situational Judgment) for 100 marks in 1 hour 30 minutes, with no negative marking. Minimum threshold marks will not be less than 30%.
2. Competitive Written Examination: A subjective exam for 100 marks in 2 hours, covering Comprehension (25 marks), Report Writing (25 marks), Security Regulations & Firefighting (25 marks), and General Awareness (25 marks). Minimum threshold marks will not be less than 35%.

The final merit list will be based on your performance in the Competitive Written Examination. Both stages will be conducted in English and Hindi at Chennai.
