ACTREC Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview
Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), part of Tata Memorial Centre at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, needs a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for one of its research projects. ACTREC is a grant-in-aid institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. Selection is through a walk-in interview under advertisement ACTREC/ADVT-224/2026, so there is no online form to fill.
The project looks at how signalling inside oral cancer stem cells helps tumours resist chemotherapy. Its full title is "Delineating the molecular signalling mechanism that impacts chemo-resistance in human oral cancer stem cells". This is a good fit if you want a PhD-track start in cancer biology, and ACTREC will prefer you if you have already worked with molecular biology, mice handling or mammalian cell culture.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project-based fellowship: This is a fellowship on a funded project, not a regular ACTREC post. It runs for six months to begin with and can be extended.
- Extension depends on your work: ACTREC will review your work progress during the first six months before it decides on an extension.
- Upgrade to SRF: You may later move up to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) once you have the qualifications and experience that level needs.
- One-year M.Sc. not counted: If your M.Sc. was a one-year programme, ACTREC will not consider it.
- Consolidated pay: The fellowship is paid as one fixed monthly amount that already includes HRA, so there are no separate allowances to claim.

M.Sc. or equivalent in Life Sciences/Basic Sciences, or M.Tech in Biotechnology, from a recognised university with minimum 60% aggregate marks, and CSIR-UGC NET, GATE or any other national-level entrance qualified for pursuing PhD. One-year M.Sc. degrees are not accepted.
