IIT Delhi Senior Project Staff Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), through its Industrial Research and Development (IRD) Unit, is holding a walk-in test and interview for project staff under the MI Project for OCS Manpower (IM00065G). The project is funded by the Dean, Alumni Relations, IIT Delhi and led by Prof. Suresh Neelakantan of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The interview is held at the Office of Career Services, which hints at where the work sits — building software and handling outreach for the institute's career and placement activities.

These are contractual project posts on a consolidated pay slab, not regular institute jobs. They suit experienced professionals with at least five years of work behind them — this is not an entry-level opening. Only Indian nationals can apply.

Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Project Engineer: a full-stack software role. The notice asks for hands-on work with the MEAN stack (PostgreSQL, Angular, Material, Next.js, TypeScript, Express JS) and the LAMP stack (Apache, Linux, MySQL, PHP, HTML5/CSS3, Bootstrap, JavaScript, Python with FastAPI or Django), plus at least one year of Node JS. Comfort with GitHub, Java EE, VS Code or Cursor AI, MS Access and advanced Excel for reports also counts.
• Senior Project Assistant (Admin): an outreach and administration role with an HR sales flavour. You need at least one CRM tool and one automated e-mail sequencing tool, experience pitching through channels like LinkedIn Recruiter and Boolean searches, and good spoken and written English and Hindi.
• Extras for the Engineer post: Flutter or React Native, iOS app development, Microsoft Power Apps and Azure Database; proven AI/ML use, especially automated monitoring and alerting pipelines with AI-driven triage bots; prior work at an IIT, NIT or IIIT; and automating processes through in-house software.
• Extras for the Admin post: prior work at an IIT, NIT or IIIT, and experience organising events, workshops and student skill-enhancement sessions.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Six months plus six months, renewable every six months on performance, and never beyond the project end date of 31 August 2027.
• Contract basis: Appointment is on consolidated pay, renewable yearly or up to the project's duration, whichever ends first. A 30% HRA is paid on top of the slab.
• Working hours: Both posts expect you to be open to long, extended or odd hours, including holidays, when the work needs it.
• Existing IIT Delhi staff: If you already work at the institute or IRD, you will not be interviewed unless your application comes forwarded by your section.
• SC/ST candidates: A 5% relaxation in marks may be granted.
• Retired government employees: If selected, your pay is fixed as per prevailing IRD norms.
