NIT Agartala Accountant Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Agartala (NIT Agartala), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, wants to engage Accountants on a contract basis at its campus in Jirania, Agartala, Tripura. Because the work involves handling government accounts, the institute has opened these posts only to retired government employees.

If you retired from an accounts post in a Central or State Government office, an autonomous body, a PSU or a university, this is a way to put that experience back to work. Hands-on knowledge of PFMS and of preparing annual accounts in the Ministry of Education format gives you an edge, and so does experience with CPWD, MES or PWD accounts.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Retired personnel only: You must have retired after holding an analogous post in the Central or State Government, an autonomous body, a PSU, or a Central or State university.
• Tenure: The first contract is for one year, extendable by up to two more terms on need and performance. The original term and renewals together cannot cross three years.
• Number of posts: The count is tentative and may go up or down with the institute's requirement.
• Relaxation for merit: The institute may relax the age limit or other criteria for meritorious candidates, and the salary is not a constraint for deserving candidates.
• Leaving early: You must give one month's notice or pay one month's salary if you want to quit during the contract.
• No permanency: The engagement can end at any time if the institute no longer needs it, and it gives no right to continuation or confirmation.
• Interview travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• Jurisdiction: Any dispute falls under the High Court of Tripura.
