Sikkim Public Service Commission (SPSC) is hiring 47 Veterinary Officers for the Junior Grade of Sikkim State Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Service. If you have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH) degree from a recognised university, you can apply online. The last date to apply is 30 June 2026. SPSC Veterinary Officer Recruitment 2026 - 47 Posts
Sikkim Public Service Commission (SPSC) has released Advertisement No. 20/SPSC/EXAM/2026 dated 14 May 2026 for direct recruitment of 47 Veterinary Officer posts in the Junior Grade of Sikkim State Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Service. The 47 posts include 2 MBC SL carried-forward posts, with roster points relaxed as per Notification No. 204/GEN/DOP dated 07/03/2026. 3 posts are reserved for PwBD candidates — one each for Blindness/Low Vision, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, and Locomotor Disability. Only candidates with Sikkim Subject Certificate or Certificate of Identification can apply.
Who Can Apply?
- Educational Qualification: You must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH) degree from a recognised University.
- Domicile: You must be a local Sikkim candidate and must hold a Sikkim Subject Certificate or Certificate of Identification issued by the competent authority of the Government of Sikkim.
- Language: You must have knowledge of any of the State Languages of Sikkim.
- Local Culture: You must be conversant with the customs and usages of Sikkim.
- Local Employment Card: You must hold a valid Local Employment Card issued by the appropriate authority of the Government of Sikkim.
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Maximum age: 40 years (as on 30 April 2026)
- Age is calculated as per Notification No. M(3)/(55)/GEN/DOP/Pt.III dated 03/07/2017.
Salary
- Selected candidates will get a salary under Pay Level 15 of the Pay Matrix.
- You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Sikkim Government rules.

Selection Process
The selection will be done in the following stages:
- Written Examination: Refer to Appendix-I of the official advertisement for the detailed scheme and pattern. The syllabus can be downloaded from the SPSC website.
- Document Scrutiny: Candidates who qualify the written exam will be called for document scrutiny in the ratio fixed by the Commission.
- Interview (if applicable): If the number of eligible candidates is not available at par with the post advertised, the recruitment process shall be conducted through interview only (as per Notification No. 204/GEN/DOP dated 07/03/2026).
Note: No TA/DA is paid for attending the examination.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat diseases of livestock, poultry, and pet animals in government veterinary hospitals and dispensaries
- Conduct vaccination drives, deworming, and disease prevention programmes in Sikkim
- Perform surgeries, post-mortems, and laboratory diagnostic procedures
- Implement animal husbandry development schemes and livestock improvement programmes
- Advise farmers and livestock owners on cattle care, breeding, and nutrition
- Maintain records of animal treatments, vaccinations, and departmental reports
- Assist in artificial insemination and breeding improvement activities
- Carry out field tours and inspections in assigned blocks and villages

Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH) from a recognised University
Required Skills
Knowledge of any State Language of Sikkim; conversant with customs and usages of Sikkim
