About This Job

State Bank of India (SBI) is hiring 7150 Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. If you are a graduate aged 20 to 28 years, you can apply online for engagement in your home state. The stipend is Rs. 15,000 per month for a 1-year training period. The last date to apply is 8 June 2026 and the online exam is tentatively scheduled in July 2026.

SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026 - 7150 Posts

State Bank of India (SBI), India's largest public sector bank, has released advertisement number CRPD/APPR/2026-27/07 for engagement of 7150 apprentices across all states and union territories. The recruitment is run jointly with the BFSI Sector Skill Council of India (BFSI-SSC) under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). Successful apprentices receive a joint National Apprenticeship Certificate from SBI-NSDC/BFSI-SSC and get weightage in future Junior Associate recruitment. Freshers with any graduate degree can apply.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: Graduation from a recognised University/Institute (as on 01.04.2026)
  • Local Language: You must be proficient (reading, writing, speaking) in the specified local language of the State you apply for. If your 10th/12th mark sheet shows you studied that language, you are exempt from the language test.
  • Other Conditions: You should NOT have undergone Apprenticeship Training in SBI or any other organisation earlier. You should NOT have one year or more training/job experience after completing your qualification.
  • Ex-Servicemen: No Ex-Servicemen or Disabled Ex-Servicemen are engaged under this scheme.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 20 and 28 years old as on 01.04.2026.
  • You must have been born not later than 01.04.2006 and not earlier than 02.04.1998 (both days inclusive).
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) — 3 years, PwBD — 10/13/15 years depending on category, as per Government of India guidelines.

Salary (Stipend)

  • Monthly stipend: Rs. 15,000 per month for the engagement period of 1 year
  • Apprentices are not eligible for any other allowances or benefits
  • You will get a joint National Apprenticeship Certificate from SBI-NSDC/BFSI-SSC after successful completion

  • SC / ST / PwBD: NIL (No fee)

Selection Process

Selection is based on 2 stages:

  1. Online Written Test (100 marks): 4 sections of 25 questions each — General/Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude. Total 100 questions, 100 marks, 60 minutes (15 minutes per section). Negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Available in English, Hindi and 13 regional languages.
  2. Test of Local Language: Conducted after qualifying the written exam. Candidates who produce 10th/12th mark sheet showing study of the opted language are exempt.
  3. Medical Examination: Final engagement is subject to being declared medically fit.

Merit list will be drawn State-wise and Category-wise. Minimum qualifying marks will be decided by the Bank (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD).

  1. Register on the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and BFSI-SSC at bfsissc.com (mandatory).
  2. Go to sbi.co.in/careers or sbi.bank.in/web/careers/current-openings.
  3. Open the SBI Apprentice application form under Current Openings.
  4. Fill in your details, upload photograph, signature and documents.
  5. Pay the fee online (Rs. 300 for General/OBC/EWS; nil for SC/ST/PwBD).
  6. Submit the form and take a printout for your record.

Responsibilities

  • Learn day-to-day branch banking operations including cash handling, customer service and account maintenance
  • Assist branch staff in handling customer queries, account opening and KYC documentation
  • Support digital banking promotion such as YONO, internet banking and mobile banking registrations
  • Help in processing deposit, withdrawal and clearing transactions under supervision
  • Maintain records, files and registers in the branch as per bank guidelines
  • Attend training sessions and skill evaluation tests conducted by SBI-NSDC/BFSI-SSC
  • Follow all banking rules, RBI guidelines and SBI conduct norms during the training period

Exam Pattern

The online written test has 100 questions for 100 marks. You get 60 minutes in total (15 minutes per section).

Subject-wise Breakdown

  • General/Financial Awareness: 25 questions (25 marks, 15 minutes)
  • General English: 25 questions (25 marks, 15 minutes)
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 25 questions (25 marks, 15 minutes)
  • Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude: 25 questions (25 marks, 15 minutes)

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks (1/4th) deducted for each wrong answer.

Exam Language: English, Hindi and 13 regional languages (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu). General English section is in English only.

Exam Type: Objective (MCQ), online.

After Written Test: Test of Local Language and Medical Examination.
