Northern Coalfields Limited Apprentice Recruitment 2026 - 1607 Posts

Northern Coalfields Limited, a Miniratna subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, has released notification No. NCL/HRD/CETI/2026-27/168 dated 25 May 2026. The recruitment covers Graduate, Diploma, Trade and Paramedical Apprentice opportunities for FY 2026-27. There is no written exam; NCL will prepare merit lists from qualification marks and then call shortlisted candidates for document scrutiny and medical fitness.

Category-wise total: UR - 652, OBC-NCL - 336, SC - 291, ST - 168, EWS - 160. The notification also mentions 58 PwBD horizontal reservation slots as per applicable rules.

Who Can Apply?

Graduate Apprentices

  • Qualification: Degree in the relevant Engineering branch, B.Com, BA, LLB or BCA, depending on the discipline.
  • Portal: Register and apply through the NATS portal.

Diploma Apprentices

  • Qualification: Diploma in the relevant engineering, office management, accounting, computer, environmental or survey discipline.
  • Portal: Register and apply through the NATS portal.

Trade Apprentices

  • Qualification: Matriculation (10th) plus the relevant ITI certificate and National or State Trade Certificate, where required.
  • Portal: Register and apply through the NAPS portal.

Paramedical Apprentices

  • Qualification: Relevant degree or diploma such as Nursing, GNM, Pharmacy, MLT, ECG, X-Ray, Physiotherapy, Ayurveda, Optometry, Yoga or Dietetics.
  • Registration: Paramedical disciplines need the respective state registration certificate where mentioned.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 26 years as on 1 June 2026.
  • Date of birth window: You should have been born on or between 1 June 2000 and 1 June 2008.
  • SC/ST relaxation: 5 years for reserved slots.
  • OBC-NCL relaxation: 3 years for reserved slots.
  • PwBD relaxation: 10 years, or 15 years for SC/ST PwBD and 13 years for OBC-NCL PwBD.

Stipend

  • Graduate Apprentices: Rs. 12,300 per month.
  • Diploma Apprentices: Rs. 10,900 per month.
  • Trade Apprentices: Rs. 9,600 to Rs. 10,560 per month, depending on the trade.
  • Paramedical Degree Apprentices: Rs. 13,700 per month.
  • Paramedical Diploma Apprentices: Rs. 12,700 per month.
  • Payment note: Graduate and diploma stipend includes the Government of India share paid through DBT, while trade apprentice stipend is paid by NCL.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

NCL will select apprentices through merit-based shortlisting, not through a written examination.

  5. Medical Fitness: Final offer is subject to a medical fitness certificate under Mines Rules, 1955.

  4. Fill your NATS or NAPS registration reference, date of birth, address, academic details, marks, photograph and signature.
  5. Apply to the NCL training position that matches your qualification. Apply for one position only.
  6. Submit the form online before 15 June 2026.
  7. Save and print the submitted online application for future document checking.

Responsibilities

  • Complete one year of apprenticeship training in the allotted NCL area, project or unit

  • Keep apprenticeship diary, attendance and training records updated
  • Work during the notified establishment hours as assigned by NCL
  • Report for document scrutiny, medical fitness and joining formalities when called
  • Follow the Apprentices Act, NATS or NAPS contract terms during the training period

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Matriculation with relevant ITI for Trade Apprentice; relevant diploma for Diploma Apprentice; relevant degree for Graduate Apprentice; relevant degree or diploma with state registration certificate where applicable for Paramedical Apprentice.

Pay Scale

Allowances

Graduate and diploma stipend includes Government of India DBT share. Trade apprentice stipend is paid by NCL. Accommodation, food, lodging and transport are not provided.
