Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna PSU, is hiring 10 executive officers in Grade D/E/F across six specialised roles. Who Can Apply?
Deputy Chief Chemist (CHEM-01)
- Postgraduate Degree in Chemistry (minimum 2 years) with at least 60% marks and must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at graduation level.
- Minimum 9 years of post-qualification experience as a Chemist (in Drilling/Workover Operations) or as a Drilling Fluid Specialist.
Deputy Chief Geologist (GEO-02)
- Postgraduate Degree in Geology/Applied Geology (minimum 2 years) with at least 60% marks and must have studied Mathematics at graduation level.
- Minimum 9 years of experience as a Geologist or in line functional work.
Deputy Chief Engineer - Reservoir (RES-03)
- Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering (minimum 4 years) with at least 65% marks, OR
- Master's Degree in Petroleum Engineering/Petroleum Technology (minimum 2 years) with at least 60% marks along with Bachelor's in Engineering (any discipline, 4 years).
- Minimum 9 years of experience as a Reservoir Engineer or in line functional work.
Deputy Chief Geophysicist (GEOP-04)
- Postgraduate Degree in Geophysics/Applied Geophysics/Exploration Geophysics (minimum 2 years) with at least 60% marks.
- Minimum 9 years of experience as a Geophysicist or in line functional work.
Deputy Chief Engineer - Safety & Environment (S&E-05)
- Bachelor's Degree in Fire & Safety Engineering/Fire Engineering (minimum 4 years) with at least 65% marks, OR
- Master's Degree/Diploma in Industrial Safety or Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) (minimum 2 years) with at least 60% marks plus Bachelor's in Engineering (4 years).
- Minimum 9 years of experience in HSE matters.
Economist (ECO-06)
- Postgraduate Degree in Economics or Business Economics with at least 60% marks.
- Post-qualification experience: 9 years for Grade D, 13 years for Grade E, 17 years for Grade F.
Candidates working in private sector must be employed in a company with minimum annual turnover of Rs. 500 Crores.
Age Limit
- Maximum age as on 28/06/2026:
- Deputy Chief Chemist, Geologist, Geophysicist: 39 years (with 2-year PG relaxation)
- Deputy Chief Engineer (Reservoir): 37/39 years
- Deputy Chief Engineer (S&E): UR-37/39, OBC(NCL)-40/42, SC-42/44 years
- Economist Grade D: 39 years; Grade E: 44 years; Grade F: 49 years
- Age Relaxation: J&K domicile (1980-1989): 5 years; Ex-Servicemen: 5 years; PhD holders: 3 years; PwBD: as per Government of India directives.
- Internal OIL candidates: upper age limit 54 years.
- Maximum upper age limit after all relaxations: 54 years.
Salary
- Grade D: Rs. 90,000 - Rs. 2,40,000 per month (IDA pay scale, starting basic Rs. 90,000)
- Grade E/F (Economist): Rs. 1,00,000 - Rs. 2,60,000 per month (starting basic Rs. 1,00,000)
- Approximate gross emoluments: Rs. 1,70,000 per month in Grade D and Rs. 2,00,000 per month in Grade E/F.
- Other benefits include HRA or Company leased/self-lease accommodation, free medical benefits for self and dependents, Gratuity, PF, House Building Loan, Vehicle Loan, Group Insurance, and Industrial DA.
- Post-Retirement Medical Benefits (PRMB) for those who superannuate from OIL after 20 years of service.
Selection Process
Selection is through Personal Interview only — there is no written exam:
- Shortlisting: Based on eligibility criteria, qualifications, and experience.
- Personal Interview (PI): Final selection is based solely on marks obtained in the Personal Interview.
- Document Verification: Original certificates, experience proofs, and other documents verified.
- Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME): At OIL Hospital, Duliajan or empanelled hospital.
Candidates from Grade D/E will be reimbursed AC-II Tier rail fare (base fare). For travel within Northeast and up to Kolkata, economy air fare will be reimbursed. Grade F candidates get economy air fare reimbursed.

Responsibilities
- Handle technical operations in your domain — drilling fluids, geological studies, reservoir characterisation, geophysical interpretation, HSE management, or economic analysis
- Lead exploration, development, and production activities in upstream Oil & Gas operations
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and regulatory bodies
- Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance with DGMS, OISD, PNGRB, PESO, CPCB, SPCB and other authorities
- Monitor field operations including drilling, workover, well kick management, and reservoir performance
- Apply industry-standard software (Petrel, ECLIPSE, Kingdom Suite, CMG) and modern analytical tools
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders including government ministries and partners
- Drive ESG, sustainability, biodiversity, and CSR initiatives across operational practices
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Postgraduate Degree in relevant discipline (Chemistry/Geology/Geophysics/Economics) with 60% marks, OR Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering/Fire & Safety Engineering (4 years) with 65% marks
Preferred Qualification
Candidates with experience in upstream Oil & Gas Sector will be preferred
