Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has released notice No. SR-CONT/1/1-2026/ADMN.I dated 06 June 2026 for Senior Resident posts. The recruitment is for Endocrinology and Microbiology departments on contract basis for the July 2026 cycle. Selection includes a written test and interview, so doctors should prepare both subject knowledge and documents before reporting.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Medical departments: You need an NMC/MCI-recognised MD, MS, or DNB postgraduate medical degree in the concerned discipline from a recognised university or institute.
• Endocrinology: Doctors with MD/DNB in Paediatrics or Medicine can apply for the Endocrinology post.
• Completion date: You must complete all requirements for the qualifying degree, including passing the exam and mandatory Junior Residency period if any, by 31 August 2026.
• Registration: You should have valid medical registration for UG and PG qualifications wherever applicable.

Other Conditions

• Nationality: The notice is for Indian candidates.
• NOC: If you work in a Government, semi-Government, PSU, or autonomous body, bring a No Objection Certificate from your present employer.
• Category certificates: OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, and PwBD certificates must follow the Government of India format and validity rules mentioned in the notice.

Contract Terms and Reporting Notes

The appointment is full time and private practice is not allowed during the contract period. Selected doctors may have to work in shifts and can be assigned duties at JIPMER Puducherry or JIPMER Karaikal based on institute requirements. After selection, the joining time mentioned in the notice is 15 days from the offer, with limited extension only in exceptional cases.

Selection Process

JIPMER will select Senior Residents through written test, interview, and certificate verification. The written test carries 80 marks, and the interview carries 20 marks.

Written Test Venue and Reporting

• Venue: JIPMER Academic Centre, opposite RCC, JIPMER Campus, Gorimedu, Dhanwantari Nagar, Puducherry - 605006.
• Reporting time: Candidates must report at 8:00 AM. After 8:30 AM, entry for the written exam will not be allowed.
• Interview venue: Room No. G-104, Ground Floor, Administrative Block, JIPMER Puducherry.

1. Written Test: The test has 40 objective questions from the concerned speciality for 80 marks. You get 60 minutes, and the paper is in English only.
2. No Negative Marking: Each correct answer gets 2 marks. No marks are deducted for wrong answers.
3. Shortlisting for Interview: For 1 to 2 posts, JIPMER may call up to 5 times the number of posts for interview based on written test marks.
4. Interview: The interview carries 20 marks and considers performance, prizes, medals, awards, and publications.
5. Certificate Verification: Only candidates whose original certificates are in order will be allowed for the interview stage.
6. Final Merit: Final ranking is based on combined written test and interview marks. If marks are equal, the older candidate gets the higher rank.
