HPPSC Assistant Professor Neurosurgery Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has released Advertisement No. 6/6-2026 for one regular Class-I Gazetted post of Assistant Professor Neurosurgery. The post is under the Medical Education and Research Department, and the notified category is Unreserved. This is a specialist teaching post for doctors with neurosurgery super-specialty training and relevant teaching experience.

Educational Qualification

• Super-specialty qualification: You need M.Ch. Neuro Surgery through a 2-year or 3-year recognised course after M.S. Surgery, or an MBBS plus 5-year direct course leading to M.Ch. Neuro Surgery.
• Experience: You need at least 3 years of teaching experience as Lecturer, Registrar, Demonstrator, or Resident after postgraduate study in the concerned specialty.
• Experience note: The 2-year or 3-year D.M./M.Ch. course period will count as teaching experience for this Assistant Professor super-specialty post.
• NOC for regular service: If you are in regular government service, you will need a No Objection Certificate from your employer for the interview stage.
• Document proof: You must upload readable certificates for age, qualification, experience, and category claims where applicable.

Desirable Qualification

• Himachal knowledge: Knowledge of customs, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh is desirable.
• Research work: Publication of research papers in indexed journals is desirable.

Age Limit

• Maximum age is 45 years and below.
• Age will be calculated as on 1 January 2026.
• Age relaxation: Relaxation of 5 years is available for eligible SC, ST, OBC, PwD, and Children/Grand Children of Freedom Fighters of Himachal Pradesh as per rules, where applicable.
• Other relaxation: HP Government employees and Ex-Servicemen of Himachal Pradesh get relaxation as per government instructions.

Salary

• Pay scale: Rs. 37,400 to Rs. 67,000.
• Grade Pay: Rs. 8,900.

Selection Process

The selection process has screening/subject aptitude testing followed by a Personality Test. HPPSC may adjust the method according to its rules, but the notification explains the usual Paper-I, Paper-II, document scrutiny, and interview route.

1. Paper-I Screening Test: CBT or offline objective test of 1 hour for 100 marks, with questions from Himachal Pradesh GK, national and international GK, Hindi, and English.
2. Paper-II Subject Aptitude Test: Descriptive SAT of 3 hours for 120 marks based on the syllabus decided by HPPSC.
3. Document Scrutiny: Original documents will be checked before or during the Personality Test stage.
4. Personality Test: Interview/personality test of 30 marks at HPPSC, Shimla.

Final ranking will be based on marks in the Subject Aptitude Test and Personality Test, as per the notification. For the Subject Aptitude Test, the minimum qualifying marks are 45% for General category and 40% for reserved categories.

2. Register through One Time Registration (OTR) if you are a new user.
3. Log in to your OTR account and choose the live advertisement for Assistant Professor Neurosurgery.
4. Fill in the online application form carefully because changes are not allowed after submission.
5. Upload your photo, signature, qualification certificates, experience certificates, and category documents where applicable.
6. Pay the Rs. 600 fee online before 1 July 2026.
7. Submit the form and keep a printout or saved copy for future use.
