Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has issued a notice for a Junior Research Fellow under the project titled Upgrading Conventional Indian Toilets with Urine Separation Technology for Circular Waste Management. The project is funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India, under reference number ANRF/ECRG/2025/003638/ENS. This is a research role for engineering postgraduates who want hands-on work in sanitation engineering, CFD, multiphase flow modelling, and circular waste management.

Project Focus

The research project runs for 3 years and focuses on improving conventional Indian toilets through urine separation technology. The notice gives preference to applicants who already understand Computational Fluid Dynamics and can use tools such as ANSYS, FLOW-3D, or OpenFOAM. Essential Qualification

• Engineering Degree: You need B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
• Postgraduate Degree: You also need M.E./M.Tech in any specialization of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
• GATE: You must have a valid GATE score obtained within the last three years from the date of advertisement.

Desired Skills

• CFD Experience: Research experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics using ANSYS, FLOW-3D, or OpenFOAM is preferred.
• Research Work: Publications, dissertation work, or project experience in CFD, multiphase flow modelling, sanitation engineering, or numerical simulation will help your application.

Age Limit

• Preferred age: Below 35 years.

Fellowship

• First two years: Rs. 37,000 per month + HRA at 8%, as per ANRF norms.
• Third year, if upgraded to SRF after satisfactory performance and approval: Rs. 42,000 per month + HRA at 8%.
• The initial appointment is for 1 year and can be extended annually for up to two more years based on performance.
