About This Job

East Coast Railway is engaging 2 Contract Medical Practitioners (GDMO) on full-time contract basis in the Khurda Road Division. East Coast Railway GDMO CMP Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

The Office of the Divisional Railway Manager (Personnel), Khurda Road has issued Employment Notice No. 01/2026-CMP dated 04 June 2026. The recruitment is for General Duty Medical Officer work under the Contract Medical Practitioner scheme.   • Age relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation and OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation.
  • For retired railway doctors and retired government medical doctors, age can be considered up to 65 years as on 01 June 2026.

Salary

  • Monthly pay: Rs. 95,000 for full-time General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO).
  • The amount includes HRA and transport allowance.
  • If railway accommodation is provided, HRA equivalent to 18% under 7th CPC along with applicable licence fee will be deducted.
  • For retired doctors, pension plus contractual pay should not exceed the last pay drawn at retirement, as per the Railway Board condition mentioned in the notice.

Selection Process

The selection process is based on a walk-in interview. The notice also states that selected candidates will be subject to a medical examination.

Contract Conditions

  • Medical fitness: Selected doctors will be medically examined, and only medically fit doctors will be engaged.
  • No regularisation claim: The contract does not give any right for continuation, automatic extension, regularisation or absorption in Railways.
  • Termination clause: Either side may end the contract with 15 days notice, and Railway can also terminate the contract as per the conditions in the notice.
  • Leave and holidays: Sundays and national holidays are normally off, and leave can be allowed at the rate of two days per month during the contract period.
  • Posting preference: You may mention posting preference in the application form, but the administration may post you as per requirement.
  • Retired doctors: Retired doctors must bring original PPO, service certificate and LPC, along with attested copies.

Interview note: The notice says the interview may span more than one day, and no TA, DA or accommodation will be provided. Keep originals, self-attested copies and photographs ready before reporting at the hospital.

  • Provide outpatient and general medical care at the assigned railway health unit
  • Examine patients, diagnose common illnesses and prescribe treatment as per medical standards
  • Attend emergency medical situations and refer patients when specialist care is needed
  • Maintain patient records, prescriptions and health unit registers properly
  • Support preventive health work, medical camps and railway employee health services
  • Follow railway hospital protocols, safety rules and medical reporting requirements
  • Coordinate with railway medical and administrative officers during duty postings

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

MBBS degree from an institute recognised by the Indian Medical Council with valid Indian Medical Council or State Medical Council registration after one-year compulsory rotating internship

Preferred Qualification

Higher medical qualification, if any, will be given due preference
