Institute for Systems Studies and Analyses (ISSA) is a DRDO laboratory under the Ministry of Defence. The lab works on systems analysis for defence systems and supports the three services, DRDO headquarters, and other defence institutions in scientific decision making. The main highlight is that selection is based on academic merit, so there is no written exam for this internship.

Who Can Apply?

Course and Qualification

• Qualification: You must be a final-year student in a B.E./B.Tech, M.Sc. or M.Tech full-time course.
• Academic level: You need First Division from a recognised Indian university or institute.
• Marks condition: ISSA expects a good academic record with at least 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale.
• Disciplines: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, allied branches, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Operational Research and Statistics are covered.

Nationality and Study Location

• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.
• Study location: Students who have studied or are studying outside India are not eligible for this internship.
• College route: You need a reference/request letter from your college in the format given with the notification.

Stipend

• Monthly stipend: Rs. 5,000 per month
• Total stipend: Rs. 30,000 for the complete 6-month internship
• Payment schedule: Rs. 15,000 after completing 3 months and Rs. 15,000 after completing 6 months
• Payment mode: Stipend will be paid directly into the student's bank account.
• Attendance condition: You must be physically present at ISSA for at least 15 working days per month.
• Allowance note: No TA/DA will be paid for joining, and expenses for food, stay, transport, medical needs or other personal costs must be handled by the student.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection process is simple: ISSA will shortlist students on academic merit. There is no written exam mentioned in the notification.

1. Application Screening: ISSA will check whether your course, discipline, nationality and academic record match the notice.
2. Academic Merit: Students with a strong record, including 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA, will be considered.
3. Email Intimation: Only selected students will be informed about the joining process through the email ID given in the application form.
4. Document Check at Joining: Selected students must bring original documents, police verification certificate, undertakings and bank details.

ISSA has also stated that students who are not selected will not receive separate communication, so keep checking your email after the 20 June 2026 deadline.

2. Fill the Annexure A application form carefully with your personal, course and marks details.
3. Get the Annexure B reference/request letter printed on your college letterhead and signed by the Principal or HOD.
4. Scan the filled application, college request letter and all required documents into one PDF file.
5. Name the PDF with your name in lowercase followed by your birth year, without spaces, such as rahulkumar2004.pdf.
6. Email the PDF to hrd.issa@gov.in.
7. Use an email subject like Application for paid internship - Computer Science or mention the discipline you are applying for.
8. Send the email before 20 June 2026. ISSA will not accept hard copy applications for this internship.

At the time of joining, selected students must also bring the original college permission letter, police verification certificate, undertaking forms for the Official Secrets Act and IT rules, bank details, original Aadhaar/college ID/previous semester marksheet, and 3 passport-size photographs.
