Advanced Weapons & Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) is a Scheduled 'A' Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, with corporate headquarters in Kanpur. AWEIL has invited applications from Indian nationals for the post of Legal Expert - Advt. No. AWEIL/07/2026. The role focuses on drafting and vetting legal documents, handling court cases, and advising on corporate, commercial, labour and arbitration matters. There is no written exam — selection is based on educational qualification, experience and personal interview.
Who Can Apply?
Essential Qualification
- Bachelor's in Law (LLB) with minimum 60% marks from a recognised University/Institute in India duly recognised by the Bar Council of India
- Candidate should be registered in Bar Council anywhere in India
Desirable Qualification
- Master of Laws (LLM) and higher qualification will be preferred
Experience
- 3 years' post-qualification experience in legal work in Central Government / State Government / PSU / Statutory Body / reputed non-government organisation
- Thorough knowledge of laws pertaining to corporate, commercial, labour and industrial, taxation, land acquisition, contract and arbitration
Preference
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and other computer applications is essential
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 45 years as on the last date of the advertisement/notice (15 June 2026)
- Candidate must be a citizen of India
Salary
- Consolidated emoluments: Rs. 90,000 per month
- Breakup: Remuneration Rs. 80,000, Conveyance Rs. 6,000, Medical Rs. 3,000, Mobile/Internet Rs. 1,000
- Annual increment: 10% per year
- No other allowances will be admissible
- Company quarter will be provided if available (with necessary deductions as per company rules)
- Leave: 12 Days Casual Leave per year on pro-rata basis
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is based on:
- Educational Qualification — verified at document scrutiny stage
- Experience — minimum 3 years post-qualification legal experience
- Personal Interview — conducted by a duly constituted selection committee
The Competent Authority may enhance the criteria for qualification and/or experience to shortlist candidates for interview if the number of eligible applicants is large.

- Fill the form with all required details and affix one passport-size photograph (4.4 cm x 5.8 cm) on the form. Attach another photograph separately.

- Mention "APPLICATION FOR THE POST LEGAL EXPERT" clearly on the envelope.

Responsibilities
- Draft and vet legal documents, notices, agreements, pleadings, affidavits, contracts, MOUs and JV agreements
- Prepare EOI and RFP conditions, PPP and concessionaire agreements, lease agreements and bye-laws for trusts and societies
- Render legal opinion and advise AWEIL on contractual disputes, service matters, disciplinary cases, court cases, taxation laws, corporate laws and arbitration
- Handle legal notices and other legal queries referred by AWEIL units
- Appear and defend AWEIL in Courts, Tribunals, Forums, Statutory and Quasi-Judicial Bodies
- Coordinate with external counsels and law firms engaged by AWEIL
- Maintain legal records, case files and ensure timely follow-up on pending matters
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's in Law (LLB) with minimum 60% marks from a Bar Council of India recognised University/Institute; registered with Bar Council anywhere in India
Preferred Qualification
Master of Laws (LLM) and higher qualification

Salary & Compensation
