UBKV Young Professional Recruitment 2026: Overview

Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV), the state agricultural university at Pundibari in Cooch Behar, is hiring Young Professionals for its new Potato Tissue Culture and Apical Rooted Cutting (ARC) Plantlet Production Facility. The project is paid for by the Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal, and runs under Dr. Nandita Sahana, Principal Investigator in the Department of Biochemistry. Both posts are purely contractual and tied to the project, so this suits you if you want hands-on lab or nursery experience in seed-potato production rather than a permanent job.

Posts and Disciplines

• Young Professional-II (YP-II): the senior lab role for postgraduates. The project wants people with a Master's in Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Botany, Plant Science or Life Science. You stand out if you have worked with plant tissue culture, virus detection, ELISA, PCR/RT-PCR, genetic fidelity testing or lab quality control, and can write technical reports.
• Young Professional-I (YP-I): the production-side role for graduates in Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Science, Biotechnology, Life Science or an allied agricultural science. Practical experience in potato production, nursery and plant hardening, plant propagation, ARC technology or protected cultivation counts in your favour, along with basic computer skills for keeping production records.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Both positions are temporary, on a contract basis and co-terminus with the project. There is no provision for re-employment once the project ends.
• Preference: Candidates with higher qualifications or relevant experience get preference, especially if their research interest matches the project's mandate. Simply meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee selection.
• Extra age relaxation: Apart from the SC/ST relaxation, the university may give further age relaxation to candidates with experience in similar projects.
• Character: You should not have any court conviction anywhere in India.
• No travel allowance: UBKV pays no TA/DA for attending the interview.
• Final decision: The selection committee's decision is final, and the university can select anyone the committee recommends.

Application Submission Notes

There is no online form. You simply walk in with two copies of your application and a detailed bio-data to the Conference Room next to the Directorate of Research, RKVY Building, UBKV, Pundibari, Cooch Behar. The YP-II interview starts at 12:00 noon and the YP-I interview at 1:30 pm on the same day.

Carry two sets of photocopies of all mark sheets and certificates from Madhyamik onwards, attested by a Gazetted Officer or the head of your institution, together with the originals.
