IIT KGP Project Assistant Food Engineering Recruitment 2026

IIT KGP Project Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) is hiring a Project Assistant for a sponsored research project in its Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering. The project is called "Moodies Ice cream" — it is building an AI-integrated personalised ice cream recommendation system and a dispensing machine, and runs as a sub-project of the Moodies Food and Beverage Innovation Hub.

The work is funded by a private company, GloballyGI Experiences Pvt. Ltd., and is handled through the institute's Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC) office. The project is led by Dr. Ronit Mandal as Principal Investigator. This is a project job, not a regular IIT post, so it suits a fresh food, dairy or agricultural engineering graduate who wants hands-on product development experience at one of India's top technical institutes.

The notice asks for hands-on skills in dairy or food product processing and analysis. It also looks for some comfort with data handling, AI tools, CAD or simulation software, along with good organising and project management habits — the project mixes food science with machine design and software, so you will be working across all three.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The engagement is for one year from the date you join. It can be extended, based on your performance, up to a maximum of four years or until the project ends, whichever comes first.
• Time-bound project: The post exists only for this sponsored project and gives you no claim to a regular post at IIT Kharagpur.
• Pay depends on profile: The consolidated pay is fixed depending on qualification and experience, so list all your relevant work in the form.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call; the institute may call only the better-matched candidates.
• Work location: You will be based at the IIT Kharagpur campus in West Bengal.
