Dibrugarh University JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview

Dibrugarh University in Assam has re-advertised a Project Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position at its Centre for Atmospheric Studies. The fellow will work on an ISRO-RESPOND project titled Modeling of Total Electron Content (TEC) over the NER Equatorial Ionization Anomaly (EIA) region for navigational applications.

In simple terms, the project studies how the upper atmosphere over North-East India affects satellite navigation signals. You will work with data from NavIC satellite receivers set up at several stations, build a model of the ionosphere, and even develop a mobile app that shows real-time TEC data. It is a good fit for a physics, mathematics, computer application or engineering postgraduate with a NET or GATE score who enjoys coding and data work.

The position is guided by Dr. Barsha Dutta of DUIET and the Centre for Atmospheric Studies. This is a re-advertisement, so if you skipped the earlier call you have another chance to apply.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Duration: The fellowship starts for one year and may be extended based on your performance. The project itself runs for three years.
• Temporary post: This is a project position, not a regular university job.
• National test score: A degree alone is not enough — the notice also expects a pass in a national-level test such as NET or GATE, so keep that certificate ready.
• Coding matters: Much of the work is software — modelling, data pipelines and an app — so programming experience will make your application stand out.
