SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant is hiring 1,110 Apprentices across Trade, Diploma and Degree categories for the year 2026-27. Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has released a notification to engage 1,110 apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for a One Year Apprenticeship Training Programme. This covers three categories: Trade Apprentices from ITI backgrounds, Diploma Apprentices, and Degree/Graduate Apprentices across engineering, science, commerce, nursing and paramedical disciplines. There is no written exam for this recruitment — selection is done purely through academic merit and a walk-in process. Both freshers from ITI, Diploma, and Degree/Graduate backgrounds passing out between 2022 and 2026 can apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Trade Apprentices (ITI Trades):

• You need an ITI certificate in the relevant trade from a government-recognized institute.

For Diploma/Degree Engineering Apprentices:

• You need a Diploma or Degree in Engineering in the relevant discipline from a government-recognized institute or university.

For Graduate Apprentices (BA/B.Sc/B.Com/BCA/BBA/Nursing/Paramedical):

• You need a Bachelor's degree or diploma in Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Applications, Business Administration, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medical Lab Technology, Radiological Technology, X-ray Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, or Pharmacy from a recognized institute.

General Conditions (All Categories):

• You must have passed your qualifying exam as a regular candidate.
• You must have passed in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 — your result must already be declared.
• You are not eligible if you have already done one year of apprenticeship training or have job experience anywhere.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 28 years old as on 31 August 2026.
• Age Relaxation: As per Government of Odisha reservation guidelines for SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories.

Salary

• Trade Apprentices (ITI): Rs. 10,560 per month stipend (Rs. 9,600 for COPA and Welder trades).
• Diploma Apprentices: Rs. 10,900 per month stipend.
• Degree/Graduate Apprentices: Rs. 12,300 per month stipend.
• Stipend for Diploma/Degree apprentices is paid 50% by RSP and 50% by BOAT/BOPT under DBT mode.
• RSP does not provide accommodation or travel allowance during training.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on academic merit through a walk-in process:

1. Online Registration on the Apprenticeship India portal (ITI trades) or NATS portal (Diploma/Degree apprentices).
2. Merit Shortlisting: 30% weightage to your Class 10 marks + 70% weightage to your Degree/Diploma/ITI marks.
3. Walk-in Document Verification at Rourkela on the scheduled date for your trade.
4. Medical Examination for fitness certification by a government doctor.

How to Apply

1. For ITI Trade Apprentices: register at apprenticeshipindia.org, search for "SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant" under Establishments, and apply for your trade.
2. For Diploma/Degree Apprentices: register at nats.education.gov.in, go to Establishment Requests, select "Steel Authority of India Limited, Rourkela Steel Plant" and apply in your passed-out branch.
3. Take a printout of your submitted application for future reference.
4. Report for walk-in document verification at the Central Recreation Room, Trainees' Hostel, Sector-5, Rourkela, on your scheduled date between 1 and 26 September 2026.
5. Carry original certificates, Aadhaar card, medical fitness certificate, and category certificates (if applicable) for verification.
