Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), a Government of India power utility under the Ministry of Power, is adding experienced Overmen to its mining operations on a contractual basis. DVC began in 1948 as India's first multipurpose river-valley project and now works across mining, power generation, transmission, distribution, water-resource management and soil conservation in the Damodar Valley. This recruitment supports the mining side of that integrated system rather than a desk-based corporate function.

DVC's operating footprint is centred on Jharkhand and West Bengal, with its head office in Kolkata. The corporation reports more than 6,700 MW of installed thermal, hydel and renewable capacity and is working towards an integrated capacity goal of 12 GW by 2030. For an Overman, that wider expansion matters because safe, disciplined coal-mine supervision supports the fuel chain behind the corporation's generating assets.

Notice PLR/Contractual/01/2026/07 is aimed at mining professionals who already understand opencast coal work and statutory mine supervision. The assignment calls for practical control of a working area, accurate shift records and close coordination with mine officials and crews. This is an experienced operational role, not a trainee route into mining.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The initial engagement is for 5 years and may be extended by another 2 years. DVC will review your performance every year, and an extension is not automatic.
• Contract status: The post is offered on a consolidated-pay contract. It does not create a claim to a permanent DVC appointment.
• Vacancy flexibility: DVC may increase or reduce the projected openings according to future requirements and management's decision.
• Official travel: Journeys connected with your duties are covered by the corporation's TA/DA rules.
• Accommodation: DVC may provide accommodation when it is available, with licence fee, electricity and water charges deducted under employee rules. No HRA, FCA or energy allowance is payable in that situation.
• Operational setting: The work belongs to DVC's mining establishment and may involve field supervision in active opencast areas. You should be ready to follow mine-safety rules, shift discipline and directions issued by the responsible mine officials.

• Supervise opencast coal-mining work during the assigned shift
