SAIL's Central Marketing Organisation (CMO) in Kolkata is hiring 1 Consultant Doctor (General Duty Medical Officer) on a contract basis. SAIL CMO Consultant Doctor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna company, has invited doctors to a walk-in interview for engagement as a General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO) at its Central Marketing Organisation (CMO), Ispat Bhawan, Kolkata. This is a contract-based engagement for one year, which can be extended up to a maximum of three years. Both fresh MBBS doctors and retired doctors can apply, and those with post-graduate qualifications or work experience get preference.

SAIL is India's largest steel producer, and CMO is its nationwide marketing and distribution arm. As a GDMO, you will work in the Medical Unit at Ispat Bhawan and look after the day-to-day health needs of employees and their families. Since the walk-in has only one date, make sure you reach the venue with all your papers ready.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have an MBBS degree from a recognised institute.
• Registration: You need a valid registration with the MCI / NMC / State Medical Council, or a valid medical practitioner licence on the State or National Register.
• Nationality: You must be an Indian national.
• Preference: Doctors with a PG Diploma or PG Degree and relevant work experience will be preferred.
• Retired doctors can also apply. However, anyone who left SAIL or another PSU through Voluntary Retirement is not eligible.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 69 years as on the date of the advertisement (20 June 2026).
• The engagement continues only up to the age of 70 years, and you must be medically fit to work.

Salary

Your monthly pay depends on your qualification, and ranges from Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 1,60,000:

• MBBS (GDMO): Rs. 90,000 per month
• MBBS + PG Diploma in the specialty: Rs. 1,20,000 per month
• MBBS + PG Degree in the specialty: Rs. 1,60,000 per month

This pay is for a minimum of 8 hours a day, 6 days a week (48 hours a week). If you work fewer hours, the pay is adjusted on a pro-rata basis. There is no HRA, but you can get company accommodation on a payment basis, a CUG mobile SIM with reimbursement, and 10 days of leave per year.

Application Fee

• There is no application fee to appear for this walk-in interview.

Tenure and Benefits

• The engagement is for 1 year to start with, and can be extended by 1 year at a time up to a maximum of 3 years. Re-engagement is allowed after that.
• Your work is reviewed every year, and any extension depends on satisfactory performance.
• You may get 2 BHK company accommodation on a payment basis, subject to availability (no HRA is paid).
• You get a CUG post-paid SIM with mobile bill reimbursement of Rs. 350 to Rs. 500 per month based on your qualification.
• You are entitled to 10 days of leave in a year, and women doctors get maternity leave as per the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961.
• Private practice is allowed as long as it does not affect your duty hours at SAIL, CMO.
• No PF or Gratuity or other statutory benefit is payable under this contract, and either side can end the contract with one month's notice.

Selection Process

Selection is through a walk-in interview only — there is no written exam:

1. Walk-in Interview: Appear before the interview board at the venue on the scheduled date with all your original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies.
2. Document Verification: Your certificates, registration, and experience proof are checked on the spot.

The engagement is likely to start on 15 July 2026 after the selection formalities are complete.

2. Keep ready your original documents plus one set of self-attested photocopies — MBBS certificate, mark sheets, registration certificate, experience certificate, date of birth proof, and photo ID.
