ICMR-NIRWoH Senior Medical Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICMR - National Institute for Research on Women's Health (ICMR-NIRWoH) is engaging a Senior Consultant (Scientific-Medical) at its Parel campus in Mumbai. This is a full-time contractual assignment for a senior medical professional who can bring long experience in a specialist area to the institute's work. The notice gives particular value to exposure in genetic counselling and genetic testing services, while previous work on research projects is also preferred. The institute has provided two professional routes into the engagement. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract period: The first engagement is for no more than one year. It may be extended case by case when the institute still needs the role and your performance is satisfactory.
• Overall tenure: Extensions cannot take the total engagement beyond five years, and the upper-age ceiling in the notice continues to apply throughout the contract.
• Experience equivalence: An MD, MS or equivalent qualification counts as three years of experience for this recruitment. An MPH does not count as experience.
• Consultancy rules: The engagement follows ICMR's consultant guidelines under OM No. 16/84/2023-AdmnII/e-file-171470. You should read those conditions before attending.
• Specialist fit: Evidence of successful work in your area of specialisation is important. Genetic counselling, genetic testing and prior research-project exposure are desirable rather than stated essential conditions.
• Work base: The assignment is attached to ICMR-NIRWoH at Parel, Mumbai and is described as full-time, so plan for institute-based work if selected.
