MPMRCL GM/AGM Traction Recruitment 2026: Overview

Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Madhya Pradesh, is looking for a senior General Manager or Additional General Manager (Traction) under Advertisement No. 4662/HRD/MPMRCL-079/2026 dated 9 September 2026. MPMRCL is building and running the Bhopal Metro Rail Project and the Indore Metro Rail Project, and this role sits in the System domain, looking after the power that actually moves the trains.

You can join in one of three ways: deputation, contract or re-employment. The grade you are offered, GM at E-8 or AGM at E-7, depends on your present or last pay level and your experience. The opening is aimed at senior electrical engineers who already handle traction or power supply work in a metro, a high-speed rail body, Indian Railways or a power supply utility.

Posts and Disciplines

• General Manager / Additional General Manager (Traction): one post in the System domain, Traction sub-domain. It covers contract management, installation, testing and commissioning, and operation and maintenance of traction and power supply systems for the metro network.
• Deputy General Manager (Security), Indore: this post was also part of the advertisement, but MPMRCL cancelled it on 16 September 2026, so do not apply for it.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Deputation tenure: An initial 3 years, extendable up to 5 years or as per the terms of your parent organisation.
• Contract tenure: An initial 3 years, extendable up to 5 years or until you turn 60, whichever comes first.
• Re-employment tenure: An initial 1 year, renewed yearly up to 5 years or until you turn 65, whichever comes first. You get a consolidated fee with applicable allowances.
• Pay level test: You must be working, or have worked, in Railways, a Railway PSU, a metro or high-speed/RRTS body, or a government organisation at the IDA, CDA or consolidated pay level the notice sets for GM or AGM.
• AGM to GM: An AGM taken on deputation can be considered for promotion to GM after the service period in the higher pay scale set out in the notice, counting parent organisation and MPMRCL together, if a GM post is vacant.
• Posting: Mainly Bhopal or Indore, but you can be sent to any MPMRCL project inside or outside Madhya Pradesh, and to other sub-domains within System.
• Cut-off date: Age and experience are counted as on the closing date of the advertisement. Only experience gained after your B.E./B.Tech counts.
• Offer window: Once selected, you must accept the offer within seven working days, or it goes to the next candidate on the merit list.
• Shortlisting: Relevant metro experience and seniority in the desired pay scale get priority. MPMRCL may also hold a written test and will check medical fitness.

• Cancellation Notice No. 4668/HRD/MPMRCL/2026 dated 16 September 2026: the recruitment for DGM (Security), Indore (Post Code 02) was cancelled for administrative reasons. The GM/AGM (Traction) post stays open.

• Lead the traction and power supply systems for the Bhopal and Indore metro projects
• Manage traction and power supply contracts, from award to completion
• Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of traction substations and overhead or third-rail power systems
• Plan operation and maintenance schedules so trains get uninterrupted power
• Coordinate with power supply utilities, contractors and the rolling stock and signalling teams
• Review technical designs, safety compliance and system performance reports
• Guide and supervise the engineers in the traction sub-domain
