The University of Kerala, the state's oldest university with its headquarters at Thiruvananthapuram, is looking for a Controller of Examinations — the officer who runs the university's entire examination wing, from the confidentiality of question papers to the publication of results for the teaching departments and affiliated colleges. This is an appointment made under the University of Kerala Statutes, so it is a fixed-tenure office rather than a routine promotion post. Senior teachers who have already carried real administrative load in a university, a college or an education department are the people this notification is written for. The same registration window also carries the university's Registrar notification, and both offices are filled through one online portal.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: the appointment runs for a maximum of four years from the day you enter office, and it closes earlier if you reach the statutory retirement age for the post before those four years end.
• Governed by the Statutes: every other term and condition of service follows the University of Kerala Statutes — there is no separate contract to negotiate.
• Employer's clearance: if you are in service, your papers must carry a No Objection Certificate and a forwarding letter from the correct authority — the Manager for teachers in private or aided colleges, the Director of Collegiate Education or Director of Technical Education for government college teachers, the Registrar for teachers in university teaching departments, and the authorised officer in every other kind of institution.
• Late or defective papers: an application that reaches the university after the closing day, or arrives with documents missing, is rejected outright with no chance to correct it.
• Canvassing: approaching the university or anyone connected with the selection, in any form, is treated as a disqualification.

Application Submission Notes

This office takes a two-part application, and both parts have to be completed. You register online at the university's recruitment portal, recruit.keralauniversity.ac.in, and you then post the printout of that application so it reaches the Registrar, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram – 34 in time.

Pay first, register after. The fee goes through the university's own payment site, and you must select "Registration Fee For Appointment" as the purpose of payment — a payment made under any other head will not be matched to your application. Keep the payment receipt, and note that online registration opens only 30 minutes after the payment succeeds, so do not try to register immediately.

The printout you post must travel with the NOC, the forwarding letter and attested copies of your age, qualification and experience certificates along with your testimonials. Have all of these scanned and ready before you start the online form, because the portal asks for those details as you go.
