Kerala PSC has issued Category No. 96/2026 to fill one Last Grade Servant vacancy in the Kottayam district, reserved exclusively for candidates from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community of Kerala. Applications from candidates of any other community will be rejected outright, and no individual rejection notice will be sent. A district-wise Ranked List will be prepared from this notification and will remain valid for a minimum of one year (up to three years) — so the Commission will keep using this same list to fill any further ST vacancies that come up in the Last Grade Service in Kottayam during that period. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed Class 7 (Standard VII). You should not have earned any degree — if you have a degree and hide this fact to apply, your application will be rejected and disciplinary action can be taken even after appointment.
• Community: Only Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates of Kerala State are eligible for this notification.
• Exception: Ex-servicemen who hold the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education (or an equivalent Navy/Air Force certificate), with at least 15 years of military service, are eligible even though this counts as a degree-equivalent qualification.
• Note: The Last Grade Service includes posts like Watchman, Peon, Cleaner, and Gate Keeper. Some posts (Watchman, Night Watchman, Cleaner, Lascar, Gate Keeper, Bull Keeper) are open to male candidates only, while Watch Woman posts under the Social Justice Department are reserved for women.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 45 years old — born between 2 January 1981 and 1 January 2008 (both dates included).
• Age Relaxation: If Kerala PSC does not find enough eligible candidates within this range, the upper age limit will be relaxed up to 50 years. In no case will the age limit exceed 50 years.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 23,000 to Rs. 50,200 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.

• All ST candidates: No application fee is required for this post.

Selection Process

Kerala PSC will select candidates through the following process:

1. Application Screening: Your application is checked against the eligibility conditions in the notification.
2. Written/OMR/Online Test (if held): If Kerala PSC conducts a test as part of this selection, you must confirm your participation through your One Time Registration profile and download your admit card in the last 15 days before the test date.
3. Ranked List: A district-wise Ranked List will be prepared for Kottayam based on the selection process.
4. Document Verification: You will need to produce original documents proving your qualification, age, and ST community status when the Commission calls for them.

Appointment is made strictly by rank order from the Ranked List, and every appointee serves a one-year probation period within the first three years of service.
