Post-wise Duties

Associate Professor

You will teach in your subject area and develop independent research through student supervision and academic projects. Your work can include building courses or laboratories and sharing research through publications, conferences and patents where relevant to your discipline.

Professor

You will provide research leadership in your area of specialisation and guide doctoral students. The role also involves strengthening teaching and laboratory work, with academic contributions that help develop the department's specialist research activity.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Departmental fit: Recruitment depends on the department's current needs. Check the separate department-wise specialisation document when deciding where your research fits.
• Nationality and appointment: Indian nationals, Persons of Indian Origin, Overseas Citizens of India and foreign nationals may be considered. Foreign nationals may receive renewable contractual appointments lasting up to five years.
• Foreign passports: Political and security clearance from the relevant Union ministries may be needed before an appointment can proceed.
• Reservation: Central Government reservation rules apply, and the institute uses the Central lists for the relevant categories. Instructions issued by the Government of India or Ministry of Education up to the interview will apply.
• Separate departments: If you apply to more than one department, make a separate application for each. The institute may move your application to another department if it finds a better fit.
• Accommodation: New faculty may receive campus transit accommodation until permanent accommodation is allotted. Housing support follows the institute's conditions.
