IIPE JRF NEMS Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) is hiring a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a sponsored research project in Visakhapatnam. Led by Dr. Deepak Kumar, the project explores an integrated mechanics approach to energy-efficient nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) switches for ultra-low-power computing.
This is a project-based research engagement linked to experimental work on miniature switches. The project brings together mechanics, materials and electronics to explore energy-efficient switching technology.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Initial engagement: Your first appointment is for 12 months. Further extensions depend on your performance, so the initial offer does not promise employment for the full project period.
- Project duration: The sanctioned project runs for 36 months from its commencement on 4 June 2026. This is the project's overall duration, separate from the length of your first appointment.
- Travel and stay: IIPE will not pay travel or daily allowances for attending the interview. If you need to stay in Visakhapatnam, you must arrange your accommodation yourself.
- Interview arrangements: An online interaction may be arranged at the institute's discretion. Follow the arrangements communicated by the principal investigator rather than assume that travel will be needed.
- Project terms: The notice asks you to consult Annexure-I on project-staff conditions and Annexure-II on the sponsoring agency or industry's conditions before applying.

- Develop contact materials for microelectromechanical and nanoelectromechanical switches.
- Characterize materials using atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy.
- Apply basic electronics to device testing and analysis.
- Analyse experimental results and interpret the findings.
- Prepare technical reports, research papers and presentations.
- Complete project milestones on time while checking work quality.
- Collaborate with researchers from different disciplines.

M.Tech/ME/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or a closely related discipline with GATE; or B.Tech/BE/BS in Mechanical Engineering with GATE.

Experience in thin-film deposition.
