IIM Mumbai Engineering Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) is hiring Engineering Assistants to support the construction, renovation, utilities and maintenance work across its Powai campus. The notice covers civil works, electrical systems and integrated mechanical-electrical-plumbing services under one contractual recruitment. This is a site-focused technical role: you will move between field inspection, contractor coordination, measurement records, tender support and maintenance planning rather than working only at a desk. The engagement may be made through the Institute or an outsourcing agency.

Posts and Disciplines

• Civil: campus buildings, RCC and structural work, finishing, roads, drainage, waterproofing and general civil maintenance.
• Electrical: HT/LT distribution, substations, transformers, DG sets, UPS systems, indoor and outdoor electrification, street lighting and energy management.
• MEP: HVAC, water supply, plumbing, treatment and pumping systems, fire-detection and fire-fighting installations, lifts, ELV/BMS systems and related statutory clearances.

Post-wise Duties

Engineering Assistant Civil

You will inspect civil construction and repair work, check quality at site, record measurements and help verify contractor bills. Your work also includes estimates, specifications, BOQs, tender papers, progress reports and maintenance schedules for campus assets.

Engineering Assistant Electrical

You will supervise electrical installation and maintenance, coordinate with contractors and service providers, and keep measurement books, asset records and safety documentation current. You may also support rate analysis, tender comparison and certification of running or final bills.

Engineering Assistant MEP

You will coordinate integrated building-service systems, follow statutory inspection and clearance needs, and check the work of contractors across mechanical, electrical and plumbing services. The role also covers records needed for audits, as-built drawings and planned maintenance.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract status: These roles are purely contractual, so appointment does not give you a claim to regular absorption at IIM Mumbai.
• Campus facilities: No campus accommodation is provided for these positions.
• Work schedule: Normal duty runs from 09:00 to 17:30 for six days a week, with Sunday as the weekly off. Work needs can change the schedule, and you may be called beyond office hours or on holidays without an extra allowance for that time.
• Shortlisting: The Institute may restrict the pool by considering stronger qualifications or more relevant work. It can choose one or more assessment methods and can change or drop a stage if recruitment needs change.
• Travel costs: No TA/DA or incidental expense is paid for attending the assessment.
• Recruitment discretion: The Institute may increase, reduce or leave positions unfilled and can amend or cancel the process. Legal disputes are restricted to Mumbai jurisdiction.
