IIITDM Kancheepuram Project Technical Support-III Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kancheepuram (IIITDM Kancheepuram) is taking one Project Technical Support - III hand into an ICMR-funded medical device project in its Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The institute is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education and sits on the Vandalur-Kelambakkam road on the outskirts of Chennai. The project, led by Dr. Uttam Mrinal Pal, is building a transvaginal probe-based dermatoscope with AI-enabled decision support for detecting cancers and infections — so the work sits where optics, mechanical design and machine vision meet. The advertisement is numbered IIITDMK/PR/PTSIII/A31/2026 and the whole selection is finished in a single walk-in day.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Purely contractual: the engagement is on a contract basis and runs only till 1 June 2027 — it carries no claim to a regular post at the institute.
- Nature of work: the post is classified as research and development work on the sponsored project, not teaching or administration.
- House rent allowance: the 30% HRA is paid only if the institute does not give you accommodation.
- Be there in person: you have to be physically present at the Chennai campus for the written test and the interview — there is no online or proxy option.
- No travel money: no TA or DA is paid for attending the interview.
- Funding agency: the position is funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and the post ends with the sanctioned project period.

परीक्षा पैटर्न
Selection is a written test followed by an interview, and both are held on the walk-in day at the Chennai campus. The advertisement does not fix the number of questions, the marks or the duration of the test.
Syllabus for the Written Test
The test is set around the project on the transvaginal probe-based dermatoscope and covers these areas:
- Engineering Mathematics: linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, complex analysis, and probability and statistics.
- Additive Manufacturing: principles of the different additive manufacturing processes, and the advantages, limits and uses of additively manufactured products.
- Engineering Mechanics: free-body diagrams and equilibrium, friction, plane trusses and frames, virtual work, kinematics and dynamics of rigid bodies, impulse, momentum and energy methods.
- Theory of Machines: displacement, velocity and acceleration analysis of plane mechanisms, dynamic analysis of linkages, cams, gears and gear trains, flywheels, governors, balancing and the gyroscope.
- Machine Design: static and dynamic loading, failure theories, fatigue strength and the S-N diagram, and the design of joints, shafts, gears, belt drives, bearings, brakes, clutches and springs.
- Engineering Materials: crystal structures, phase diagrams, heat treatment, properties of metals, polymers, composites and ceramics, and stress-strain behaviour.
- Casting, Forming and Joining: casting processes and defects, plastic deformation and yield criteria, bulk and sheet forming, powder metallurgy, welding, brazing, soldering, adhesive bonding and non-destructive testing.
- Machining and Machine Tools: machining operations, cutting tool geometry and materials, tool life and wear, abrasive and non-traditional machining, and work holding with jigs and fixtures.
- Computer Aided Manufacturing and Automation: CAD and CAM integration, NC and CNC machines with CNC programming, pneumatic, electro-pneumatic and hydraulic actuators, and programmable logic controllers.
