NIT Uttarakhand Non-Teaching Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand (NIT Uttarakhand) has opened its office, workshop and laboratory support hiring for the Srinagar (Garhwal) campus through Advt. No. 08/2026 dated 21 September 2026. The drive covers five non-teaching cadres — Superintendent, Technical Assistant, Technician (Selection Grade-II), Technician and Junior Assistant. Two routes run side by side: deputation for officials already serving in Central or State Government, autonomous bodies, statutory authorities, PSUs and public sector banks, and a contract route open to any citizen of India. Everything about who can apply is governed by the Recruitment Rules (2019) that NITs follow for non-teaching positions, and the institute has attached the relevant rules to the advertisement itself.

Posts and Disciplines

• Superintendent: a Group B office post that handles the administrative work of a section. Any graduate discipline works here, so this is the one post that is not tied to an engineering branch.
• Technical Assistant: Group B technical support in Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical. You work with the department that matches your branch.
• Technician (Selection Grade-II): Group C posts in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical and the Library. Under the Recruitment Rules this grade is normally filled by promotion, so the institute is offering it on deputation to serving technicians who already hold an equivalent grade elsewhere.
• Technician: Group C workshop and laboratory posts in Civil, Electrical and Electronics, offered purely on contract.
• Junior Assistant: Group C clerical support — form filing, correspondence and data work — where typing speed and computer skills matter more than the subject of your degree.

The institute has marked the post numbers as indicative and subject to change, and it can increase or decrease the posts in any cadre.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Every appointment starts as a one-year engagement, which the institute may extend as its requirements demand.
• Deputation terms: pay and service conditions for candidates joining on deputation follow DoPT OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt.(Pay-II) dated 17 June 2010, as amended, along with the orders of the Board of Governors.
• Proper channel: if you already serve a Government, semi-Government, autonomous, statutory body, PSU or public sector bank, route the application through proper channel or carry a No Objection Certificate to the document verification. An advance copy is accepted if you mark it on the first page of the form.
• Deputation paperwork: attested ACR/APAR copies for the last five years, vigilance clearance and the employer certificate in Annexure-I must travel with the application.
• One form per post: each post needs its own application, and on the portal that means registering again with a different email address.
• Earlier applicants: anyone who applied against Advt. No. 06/2024 has to apply afresh; attach proof of the earlier payment to claim exemption from paying again.
• No travel money: the institute pays no travelling allowance for attending the selection process.
• Updates only online: shortlists, addenda and corrigenda appear only on nituk.ac.in — the institute sends no separate intimation, so keep checking the site.
• Jurisdiction: any legal dispute falls within the jurisdiction of the High Court of Uttarakhand alone.

Application Submission Notes

Applications go through the institute's non-teaching recruitment portal, where you register with a valid email address, pick your post and fill the form. After submitting it online, print the form, attach the self-attested copies and the fee receipt with your name written on it, and send the packet to The Registrar, National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand, Srinagar Campus, Srinagar (Garhwal), District Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand 246174. Seal the envelope and write "Application for the post of ……………" on it.
