IIIT Dharwad Scientific Administrative Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Information Technology Dharwad (IIIT Dharwad), an Institute of National Importance in Karnataka, needs a Scientific Administrative Assistant for a research project in its Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The project is called AI Pilot Interactive Hands-On Machine Learning for STEM Education and is funded by DST-NCSTC, the science communication arm of the Department of Science and Technology. It is led by Dr. Nataraj K S, with Dr. Jagadish D N as Co-Principal Investigator.

Do not let the word "administrative" fool you. Most of the work is technical — building machine learning models, putting them on small edge devices, and writing the front end and back end of the apps the project creates. You will also go on field visits to collect data and take care of the project's day-to-day admin. Any graduate can apply, so this suits a fresh graduate who can code and wants hands-on AI experience. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract length: The first appointment is for 8 months. It may be extended based on your performance, project funds and project needs, but it ends when the 24-month project ends.
• Full-time on campus: You must work full-time at IIIT Dharwad, and you may be given duties inside or outside the institute when the work needs it.
• No regular-staff benefits: This post gives you no claim to a regular job, and you will not get housing, medical or other benefits meant for permanent staff.
• Posts may change: The institute can increase, reduce or not fill the advertised post.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee a call. The institute may set higher cut-offs to shortlist applicants.
• Eligibility date: Your age, qualification and experience are checked as on the date of the selection process, and your degree must be from a recognised university or institute.
• Document checks: If any document turns out to be fake or you hide your background, your service will be ended at once and legal action may follow.
• Travel costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending the selection process.
