ICMR is hiring 1 Director for ICMR-Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC), Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) BMHRC Director Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), an autonomous organisation under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has released notification (Adv. No. ICMR/DIR/BMHRC/02/2026-RPCell) for the post of Director at ICMR-Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre. This is a tenure post for 3 years, extendable up to 5 years or till superannuation, whichever is earlier. Senior medical officers from Central or State Government, autonomous organisations, PSUs, and recognised universities can apply.

Who Can Apply?

You must be an officer of the Central Government, State Government, UT administration, autonomous or statutory organisation, PSU, recognised university or research institution, AND meet one of the service conditions below:

Service Eligibility (any one)

• Holding an analogous post on a regular basis in the parent cadre
• OR 2 years' regular service in Pay Level 13A (Rs. 1,31,100-2,16,600)
• OR 3 years' regular service in Pay Level 13 (Rs. 1,23,100-2,15,900)

Educational Qualification

• MBBS from a recognised institution (as per Indian Medical Council Act, 1956)
• Post-Graduate degree in any medical discipline recognised by the Medical Council of India
• 16 years' standing in the profession with teaching, research and administrative experience
• Out of the 16 years, at least 7 years should be in administration in a medical college or recognised training institution after the PG qualification

Note: DM/MCh duration is counted toward teaching experience. General Duty Medical Officer experience is NOT counted.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 58 years as on the closing date (7 June 2026)
• This is the upper age limit for appointment by deputation (including short-term contract)

Salary

• Pay Level: Level 14 of Pay Matrix (7th CPC)
• Pay range: Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month
• Plus all allowances admissible to ICMR employees (DA, HRA, TA, etc.)

Selection Process

Selection will be done in these stages:

1. Shortlisting: All candidates who meet the minimum eligibility (age, qualification, experience) will be shortlisted
2. Further Shortlisting (if needed): ICMR may shortlist further based on higher experience or higher qualifications, as decided by the DG, ICMR
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview by the Selection Committee

• Manage the institute's budget, infrastructure, and human resources
• Build collaborations with national and international research agencies
• Ensure quality patient care and clinical research at the hospital
• Represent the institute at academic, scientific, and government forums
