GSSSB Municipal Engineer Recruitment 2026 — 50 Vacancies

GSSSB is hiring 50 Municipal Engineers, Class-3 for the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department in Gujarat. If you have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Technology, you can apply online starting 27 July 2026. The last date to apply is 10 August 2026. The age limit is 18 to 35 years, and you will get a starting fixed pay of Rs. 49,600 per month for the first five years.

Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB) Municipal Engineer Recruitment 2026 - 50 Posts

The Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB) has released Advertisement No. 440/2026-27 for direct recruitment to 50 Municipal Engineer, Class-3 posts under the Commissioner of Municipal Administration's office, Gandhinagar, functioning under the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department. These posts are spread across municipalities all over Gujarat and will be filled through a competitive written examination. 15 of the 50 posts are reserved for women candidates across categories, so both fresh civil engineering graduates and experienced candidates can apply.

Category-wise Vacancy Distribution

• Unreserved (General): 30 posts
• Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC): 9 posts
• Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 5 posts
• Scheduled Caste (SC): 3 posts
• Scheduled Tribe (ST): 3 posts

Out of the total 50 posts, 15 are reserved for women candidates (9 Unreserved, 3 SEBC, 1 EWS, 1 SC and 1 ST). 5 posts are also reserved for Ex-servicemen. Vacancy numbers may increase or decrease before the final recruitment.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Technology, or an equivalent qualification in an allied discipline such as Construction Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Highway Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Town and Country Planning, or Transportation Engineering, from a recognized university or institution.
• Computer Knowledge: You must have basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment Rules, 1967.
• Language: You need adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi (or both).
• Citizenship: You must be a citizen of India, or meet the nationality requirements under Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 35 years old as on 10 August 2026.
• Age Relaxation: General category women get 5 years (up to 40); reserved category (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS) men get 5 years (up to 40); reserved category women get 10 years (up to 45).
• PwBD Candidates: General category PwBD men get 10 years (up to 45), general category PwBD women get 15 years (up to 45), reserved category PwBD men get 15 years (up to 45), and reserved category PwBD women get 20 years (up to 45).
• Ex-Servicemen: Get relaxation equal to their length of defence service plus 3 years.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a fixed pay of Rs. 49,600 per month for the first five years of service.
• After five years of satisfactory service, you will move to the regular Pay Level-7 (7th Central Pay Commission), ranging from Rs. 39,900 to Rs. 1,26,600 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Gujarat Government rules once you move to the regular pay scale.

• The fee is fully refunded to candidates who actually appear for the examination.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Written Competitive Exam (CBRT/OMR): A single-stage MCQ exam with 2 parts. Part A has 90 questions for 90 marks covering logical reasoning & data interpretation, quantitative aptitude, and the Constitution of India, current affairs plus Gujarati & English comprehension. Part B has 120 questions for 120 marks on subject-specific and technical topics related to civil engineering. You get a combined 3 hours (180 minutes) for both parts, with 0.25 marks (1/4th) negative marking for every wrong answer.
2. Qualifying Marks: You need at least 40% in Part A and 40% in Part B to qualify.
3. Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted on merit are called for verification of original certificates.
4. Final Merit List: Prepared category-wise, based on your marks in the written exam.

The written exam is expected to be held around January 2027. The exact date, time and admit card details will be published on gsssb.gujarat.gov.in.

2. Select GSSSB and click Apply against Advertisement No. 440/2026-27, Municipal Engineer Class-3.
3. Fill in your Personal Details and Educational Details.
4. Read the declaration, select "Yes" and save your form.
5. Upload your photo (3.9 cm x 5 cm) and signature (2.5 cm x 7.5 cm) in JPG format (under 15 KB each).
6. Pay the application fee online using debit card, net banking, UPI or wallet.
7. Confirm your application and take a printout for your records.
