Gauhati University has released Advertisement No. NTS-8/2026 for one Driver post at the G.U. Hospital, on a purely temporary basis. This is a daily wage engagement, initially for a period of 60 days, meant for candidates with genuine ambulance driving experience. Shortlisted candidates will be called directly for document verification and an interview — there is no separate written exam for this post.

Gauhati University, established in 1948, is the oldest university in Assam and one of the first universities in Northeast India. The G.U. Hospital on campus looks after the healthcare needs of students, staff, and the surrounding community, and a dependable ambulance driver is essential to keeping this service running smoothly.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: HSLC (Class 10) passed.
• Experience: Experience as an Ambulance Driver, supported by an authentic document.
• License: You must hold a valid Commercial LMV (Light Motor Vehicle) driving license.

Age Limit

• You should be between 21 and 40 years old as on the date of the interview.

Salary

• You will be paid on a daily wage basis of Rs. 350 per day (approximately Rs. 10,500 per month).
• No T.A./D.A. will be given for attending the interview.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Document Verification: Held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on the day of the interview.
2. Interview: Held from 10:50 AM onwards on the same day.
