CBI Accounts Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which works under the Delhi Special Police Establishment, needs one Accounts Officer for its Administration Division at the agency headquarters in CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. This is not an open-market opening. CBI wants a serving Central Government officer who can come in on deputation and take charge of the cash, accounts and budget work of an organisation that runs branches and zones across the country. The circular is open-ended, which means the file stays alive until the post is actually filled — so the sooner your department clears your papers, the better your chances.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Who is considered: only officers already serving the Central Government. Your application has to reach CBI through proper channel, carrying your cadre clearance, vigilance clearance and integrity certificate.
• Deputation terms: the standard rules apply — DoPT OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt (Pay-II) dated 17 June 2010 and 1 March 2011, and OM No. 6/5/2012-Estt (Pay-II) dated 30 November 2012, as amended from time to time.
• Tenure: the deputation normally runs up to three years, and any deputation you are already serving in another ex-cadre post is counted inside that limit.
• Extra pay: officers who join CBI as Accounts Officer draw a Special Security Allowance every month on top of their pay.
• No backing out: once you apply you cannot withdraw your candidature. If you are selected and then refuse to join, you will be debarred from any deputation in the Government of India for the combined period of the tenure and the cooling-off.
• Immediate release: CBI wants officers who can be spared straight away if selected, so your parent office should be willing to relieve you.
• How the pick is made: a Selection Committee goes through the bio-data and the papers attached to it. The circular mentions no written test.

Fill the bio-data proforma printed as Annexure-II of the circular, and get every page attested with a rubber stamp before it goes out.
