Gandhidham Municipal Corporation, through its ICDS branch under the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Gujarat, is taking women into honorary service as Anganwadi Worker (Karyakar) and Anganwadi Helper (Tedagar) at the 195 anganwadi centres it runs in the Kachchh port city. The corporation works these centres through two ICDS units covering its 13 wards, under the centrally sponsored Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme. This is honorary service on a fixed monthly honorarium rather than a regular municipal post, and the terms follow the state department’s anganwadi selection resolution. It is a small, strictly local notice — an urban woman who has lived in her ward for a year is exactly who it is meant for.

Posts and Disciplines

• Anganwadi Worker (Karyakar): the woman who runs a single anganwadi centre in the corporation area and the senior of the two engagements. Serving helpers get first claim on this post before outside applicants.

Unlike the district panchayat notices, the unit here is the municipal ward. You pick one anganwadi centre inside your own ward while filling the form, and the merit list is drawn for that centre alone — with only two ICDS units in the whole corporation, most wards have just a handful of centres to choose from.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Ward residence: you must already be a local resident of the ward area in which the anganwadi centre works, and the department counts at least one year of that residence. Only the prescribed-format certificate from the Mamlatdar’s office, issued through a Jan Seva Kendra and less than six months old, is accepted as proof.
• Honorary service: this is manad seva under the ICDS scheme, not a regular government post. Everything about the engagement follows the Women and Child Development Department resolution ICD/102019/1652/B (Part-2) dated 25 November 2019 and the amendments made to it from time to time.
• Priority for serving helpers: a woman already working as an Anganwadi Helper is considered ahead of other applicants for the Worker post under clauses 6.1 to 6.6 of that resolution, and a more relaxed upper age rule is applied to her.
• Cut-off: the last date of application is the cut-off for age, schooling and every other condition, so you must already meet all of them on that day.
• One family, one centre: two women of the same family cannot hold the Worker and Helper engagements at one anganwadi centre. The bar covers a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, two sisters, derani-jethani and nanand-bhabhi.
• Clean record: a woman facing a police complaint or a court conviction, declared insolvent, or removed or suspended from any earlier government, semi-government or honorary service as punishment cannot apply.
• No other office: if you hold an honorary or elected post in a local body, the Vidhan Sabha, the Lok Sabha, a cooperative body, a registered society or a registered trust and you do not want to leave it, you cannot apply.
• Accuracy: if the details typed into the form do not match the papers you upload, your candidature is cancelled and no request against that decision is heard. Scanned copies must be clean enough to read.
