UPSC Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is recruiting for permanent technical, legal and medical posts through advertisement 12/2026. The appointments serve the National Sugar Institute, Legislative Department, Delhi Land and Building Department and New Delhi Municipal Council. Although these posts share one advertisement, they belong to different services and departments, so you should read the conditions attached to your chosen role.

Posts and Disciplines

• Junior Technical Officer (Sugar Technology): based at the National Sugar Institute in Kanpur, under the Department of Food and Public Distribution, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
• Assistant Legislative Counsel: a Grade IV Indian Legal Service appointment in the Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice, with headquarters in New Delhi.
• Law Officer: a legal post in the Land and Building Department of the Government of NCT of Delhi.
• Specialist Grade II (Junior Scale), Cardiology: a specialist medical appointment in the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

Post-wise Duties

Junior Technical Officer

You will work on teaching, research and advisory activities in Sugar Technology. The role sits within the National Sugar Institute's technical work.

Assistant Legislative Counsel

You will handle legislative drafting and examine statutory rules and orders. Your work supports the Legislative Department's legal drafting functions.

Law Officer

You will help government advocates with land-acquisition and alternative-plot cases before the High Court and Supreme Court. You will also conduct land-acquisition cases and civil suits before the Additional District Magistrate and Delhi's subordinate courts.

Cardiology Specialist

You will provide specialist patient care in Cardiology. The role also includes carrying out and guiding research in the specialty.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Service classification: The technical officer, legislative counsel and cardiology specialist appointments are Group A gazetted posts. The Law Officer appointment is Group B gazetted and non-ministerial.
• Probation: The technical officer and cardiology specialist have one year of probation. Legislative counsel and Law Officer have two years; Law Officer recruits must also complete at least two weeks of induction training to finish probation.
• Posting liability: Kanpur is the technical officer's headquarters, but the notice allows posting anywhere in India. The other advertised roles have Delhi or New Delhi headquarters.
• Private practice: The Cardiology Specialist cannot undertake private practice of any kind. Read this service restriction carefully if you currently practise outside your main employment.
• Delhi OBC reservation: Law Officer reservation follows the GNCTD-specific community and certification conditions. An OBC certificate from outside Delhi is not automatically sufficient; the notice sets additional conditions for accepting it.
• Application finality: After submitting your application, you cannot withdraw it or change its fields. A later edit to your Universal Registration profile will not change an application already submitted.
• Recruitment communication: UPSC sends correspondence to your registered email and publishes interview information on its website. An interview invitation does not guarantee appointment; the government issues appointment orders.
