Uttar Pradesh Anganwadi Worker Recruitment 2026
Anganwadi centres are the backbone of India's Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, which the Ministry of Women and Child Development runs together with state governments. In Uttar Pradesh, the Bal Vikas Seva Evam Pushtahar Vibhag (Department of Child Development and Nutrition) manages these centres through district-level Child Development Project Officers. Anganwadi Workers are community-level functionaries who run these centres, so vacancies open up district by district and ward by ward as they arise, rather than through one single all-India exam. The upanganwadibharti.in portal is the digital gateway the department uses to collect fresh applications from women across the state, and this specific page is for New Applicant Registration — if you have already registered before, you can use the Login option on the same portal instead of registering again.
An Anganwadi Worker is often the first point of contact between the government and families in a village or urban ward for anything related to child health, nutrition, and early education. If you enjoy working with children and want a community-facing government role close to home, this is a good place to start.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You should have passed Class 12 (Intermediate) or an equivalent qualification. If you hold a higher degree, your marks are considered up to postgraduate level for merit.
- Gender: Only women candidates can apply for the Anganwadi Worker post.
- Residency: You should generally be a resident of the district/ward you are registering for — local candidates are usually given preference since the role involves regular door-to-door community outreach.
- Reservation: SC, ST, OBC, and EWS reservation follows the standard Uttar Pradesh government policy for this post.
Age Limit
- You should be between 18 and 35 years old to apply for the Anganwadi Worker post.
- Age Relaxation: Widowed, divorced, and abandoned women get relaxation as per Uttar Pradesh government norms.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Anganwadi Worker posts are filled through merit — there is no written exam:
- Merit List: Prepared using your Class 12 (or higher) marks, with extra weightage for BPL, widowed, or abandoned women candidates as per government norms.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must submit original certificates for verification.
- Final Selection: The district-level selection committee publishes the final list.
Because there is no common exam across the state, the merit list, cut-off, and number of posts are worked out separately for each ward or project area — so results and vacancy details will differ from district to district.
How to Apply
- Go to upanganwadibharti.in and open the New Applicant Registration form (use the Login option instead if you registered earlier).

- Set a password that has at least 8 characters with uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and a special character.

- Log in with your new credentials once registration is complete.
- Fill in your educational and personal details, and choose the project area and post you want to apply for.
