TANUVAS is hiring 1 Project Assistant at the Bioinformatics Centre, Madras Veterinary College, Chennai. If you have a graduate degree in Veterinary Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or Bioinformatics, you can attend the walk-in interview on 12 June 2026 at 11:00 AM. The salary is Rs. 25,000 per month (consolidated). Your age must be between 21 and 35 years.
TANUVAS Project Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) has released a walk-in notification for 1 Project Assistant post under the Chief Minister's Research Grant (CMRG) funded project titled "Experimental identification of small molecule compounds with activity against RNA dependent RNA polymerase (L-protein) of Rabies Virus". This is a purely temporary, contractual engagement co-terminus with the project. Fresh graduates and postgraduates in life sciences who want hands-on research experience in virology and bioinformatics can apply.
Who Can Apply?
Essential Qualification
- Graduate degree in Veterinary Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or related disciplines from a recognised university or equivalent.
Desirable Qualification
- Postgraduate degree in Veterinary Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or related disciplines from a recognised university or equivalent.
- Knowledge of animal cell culture techniques, virology techniques, molecular biology techniques, and bioinformatics.
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years (under the young professional category)
- Maximum age: 35 years
- Age relaxation is available as per rules.
Salary
- You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 25,000 per month.
- No House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be paid.
Duration of Engagement
- Initial engagement is for 12 months.
- Extendable by 2 more years based on need and performance.
- Maximum total duration: 3 years.
- Appraisal will be done quarterly. Unsatisfactory performance can lead to termination with one month's notice.
Selection Process
Selection is through a walk-in interview. The Dean's decision is final.
- Screening and Shortlisting: All candidates will be screened before the interview.
- Written Test (if conducted): A written test may be held before the interview.
- Walk-in Interview: Held on 12 June 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Bioinformatics Centre.
- Document Verification: Original certificates must be produced during the interview.

Responsibilities
- Work on the CMRG-funded research project on Rabies Virus RNA polymerase under the Principal Investigator
- Handle animal cell culture and virology lab techniques as per project protocols
- Carry out molecular biology experiments and prepare reagents for the lab
- Use bioinformatics tools to identify small molecule compounds against the L-protein target
- Maintain proper lab notebooks, sample records, and inventory of consumables
- Prepare progress reports, presentations, and data sheets for project review meetings
- Assist in drafting research papers and supporting the PI in routine project activities
